that reminds me, I worked part time in a liquor store around 2000...there was a girl I worked with who would sign the words to all the songs on the radio. She was quite pretentious and annoying tbh...I laughed so hard when a person who knew sign language asked what language she was signing in
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Haha, that reminds me when i've been the first time out of Germany in Denmark at the age of 4. And i was surprised that the kids there were laughing in the same “language“ we do!
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

You can customize almost any command and shortcut in Reaper. This Youtube video is a good (if a bit long) introduction to customizing Reaper to be more similar to another DAW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDhzKnuepXMEnGee wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 1:59 am I was about to buy version 6 but it costs me $118 NZD which is not what I had in mind! Well, it works also with ver 5.99, so I loaded it and I also did change inserting the notes by left clicking once only instead of double click
I wish there is no smart tool because I find choosing the exact tool (eraser, select, pen ...etc) by pressing for example 1,2,3 is much better. I might discover a way. But come on! I mean why they don't sit with someone who uses Cubase/S1 and see how the midi editing is there?!
Ok, enough Reaper! Enough off topic!

i think this poll tells us more about who hangs out here, than which GUI is "best".

@monkeygenius:
Thank you I'll watch it soon. I strongly believe now that the mistake I did is to ignore customization and tried to use Reaper as it is! It's like a synth without presets! You need to get your hands dirty before beginning to use it.

That's is always going to be a matter of taste.
Currently prefer Cubase but there are several with good GUIs, its just a matter of what your used to.

The fact that you get a thumbs down for that logical conclusion tells me even more.jonljacobi wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 6:51 pm i think this poll tells us more about who hangs out here, than which GUI is "best".

Its called the Second Law of Thermodynamics: an ordered system and its surroundings spontaneously evolve toward maximum disorder, becoming unavailable for doing actual work.

Cakewalk By Bandlab for GUI customisability and clarity of text.
Studio One for GUI workflow - (Font / text is terrible since 3.0, but if you've ever used a computer from the 1980's you've maybe seen worse, although reading big blocky graphics wasn't a problem on a 21" CRT colour tv screen 5 meters away as I remember back then, when programming in BASIC.
Renoise is now the best in terms of font clarity because of its scalability.
Essentially all you have to do, is put all three into a test tube, swirl the tube around and you have the perfect baby, in terms of GUI for a DAW, and give it a good name... like Sarah, if it's girl although I do have some alternatives.

... and in that state of maximum disorder (or randomness, or entropy... or whatever you choose to call it) is constructed a system of absolute equilibrium. Wherein anything, in relation to anything else, is essentially equal.
Lets continue to move this thread toward that state, ok?

That state of uniform equilibrium with no energy, where nothing meaningful ever happens, is commonly called "death" and occurs just after the grim REAPER arrives.lessera wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 3:24 am... and in that state of maximum disorder (or randomness, or entropy... or whatever you choose to call it) is constructed a system of absolute equilibrium. This thread will inevitably reach that state.
