Not exactly a DAW.
It's a tool for non-linear audio implementation in game engines, interactive media etc...

MATLAB Audio Toolbox makes and hosts AU/VST plugins, has MIDI devices, streams audio to ASIO and CoreAudio, lets you tweak algos in real time, etc just like a normal DAW:

I first heard of 1Bitdragon (https://1bitdragon.com) earlier this year. Was just watching some tutorials on it and I think I'll grab it. Even at full price ($20), the amount of features is nuts, and now it's on sale for 50% off. It's not a "full-featured" DAW, but it's not really pretending to be either. And for a non-professional like myself, it looks refreshingly simple to just get something down quickly and worry about improving it afterward.
