no word from alps or cirque I'm afraid - I'll keep annoying them 'till I hear something, and inform you when something happens.

I wish this would work on a Sony Viao VGN-B100B with an Alps touchpad.
This link might provide useful information to one more knowledgable than me:

Thanks for a great application.

Wow! I spent ages a few months ago trying to find something like this. Even considered making my own but decided I had too many things distracting me from music already.

Get outa my dreams and into my VST folder.....

thanks for the link - unfortunately it describes how to set up an alps touchpad to use the synaptics driver on linux, not much help in windows I'm afraid. Someone already tried installing a synaptics driver for an alps on windows but it didn't work :-(

too bad, I thought you had some insight in this - I try contacting Alps support again and again but they don't really seem to care much about answering. I guess that's a bad sign.

I had a reply from Alps UK after asking if they do a similar developer package like Synaptics. This is what they said:

"Unfortunately ALPS has confidentiality agreements with our end customers
(the
computer manufacturers) so we cannot directly inform you.

However, if you check the internet (I think driverguide.com for example) you
maybe
able to find gthe information you require.

thanks comfy, I looked around at driverguide.com, but there was no information I could use. I did post in the forum, but it seemed a bit inactive. I have been googling this for hours without digging up anything useful.

That confidentiality thing has to be about limiting the functionality of the cheaper alps touchpads - the hardware is identical but the driver of the more expensive touchpads allow more functionality.
This is likely to be different on Linux, it even seems Alps and Synaptics use the same driver there. In that case there might be a Touchpad 2 MIDI ladspa plugin at some point in the future, depending on many factors, like my ability to run Energy XT on an intel mac running linux and using VST plugins on that setup...

Hi ohm,
I noticed at driverguide.com they list the Alps Electric drivers at:
http://list.driverguide.com/list/company63/index.html
and post information on the Alps Glidepoint and Alps Glidepoint Touchpad drivers.

Post

Thanks. I coudln't find any info, just a lot of driver downloads.

got word from Alps support finally, and they'll send me a NDA to fill out, then eventually it looks like I'll get the SDK - This means Alps support in a not too distance future - I'll post a news item here at KVR when it's ready.

Unfortunately it appears that the usb touchpads use an entirely different set of drivers...
