I was looking for a DAW/hardware synth sync solution and decided on the ES-40 + ESX-8MD combo which I have arriving in the mail. However now I am considering getting into modular (or semi modular synths) and was thinking about the possibility of sending cv from my DAW. As in LFOs, ADSRs, etc. So can I add a ESX-8CV to the ES-40 + ESX-8MD?

Thanks. So I suppose I'll see how it all connects up once I get it. Cheers.

So I triple checked the connections. ESX-8MD connected to the Channel 1 pins on the ES-40, MOTU Ultralite S/PDIF out to ES-40 in. ES-4 Controller on a MIDI track in Ableton. Audio to Ext. out 9/10 which I believe is S/PDIF on the MOTU. I get no light indicator on the ESX-8MD From MIDI 1 where my device is plugged in. No MIDI triggering my external synth. Silent Way ES-4 Controller MIDI out set to Omni by the way.
So either no signal to the ES-40 or from the ES-40 to the ESX-8MD.

Is the ES-40's big 'sync' LED on?

After much time investigating I managed to get it all working. Issue for me was a bad ribbon cable to the SEX-8MD and that I needed to be on output 11/12 not 9/10 in Ableton using my MOTU Ultralite MK3. Cheers.
