Here is the official press release:

Alan Parsons Sample Project Announced by Sonic Reality
Imminent release of “Alan Parsons Imperial Grand Piano” for Yamaha Motif and popular software sampler formats.

January 24, 2014, Sunrise, Florida - Sonic Reality is very proud to announce a new product series with legendary producer/engineer Alan Parsons called the Alan Parsons Sample Project.

Each library in the series will focus on a different set of instruments recorded in the style of classic albums Alan has engineered in his career from The Beatles to Pink Floyd to his own Alan Parsons Project albums and more.

The first release is the Alan Parsons Imperial Grand Piano recorded in the style of Dark Side of the Moon using the same microphones and vintage EMI TG12345 mixing console. One of the most magnificent grand pianos in the world has been captured in all its 24 bit hi resolution chromatic multiple velocity glory and can now be played by any keyboard player regardless of their budget. Recorded at Mark Knopfler's British Grove Studios in London, the rare 97 key 9 and a half foot Bösendorfer Model 290 Imperial Grand was sampled by Alan Parsons and Dave Kerzner, founder of Sonic Reality, and the SR team in meticulous detail. The Alan Parsons Sample Project: Imperial Grand Piano will be available first in Yamaha's Motif format and will soon be released in popular software sampler formats such as SampleTank, Reason, Kontakt, Apple's EXS24 in Logic and more.

“It’s been a pleasure working with Alan Parsons on products like Nick Mason Drums, recreating timeless drum sounds in the style of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon for musicians to use in their own music” says Dave Kerzner, CEO of Sonic Reality and co-producer of the Alan Parsons Sample Project “Now with Alan’s series of sample libraries we’re covering other classic instrument sounds from rock history such as this amazing Imperial Grand Piano and more to come!”

Availability: Q1, 2014 from and Sonic Reality dealers and distributors world-wide.
Formats: Motif, SampleTank 3, Reason 7, Kontakt, EXS24 and more TBA.

I bought the Alan Parsons piano for SampleTank and love it.

But the SampleTank 2.5 version seems to have disappeared from the esoundz web site, with only the ST3 version now listed.

Is the ST2.5 version gone forever? Or is it still possible for other potential customers to purchase it?

Bought this in the Reason Refill format, and it easily matches the quality of Reason Pianos. I just had to get the Bosendorfer tone in my collection. It has the most pleasing resonance of all of the piano sample sets that I have.

Agreed - it's one of the better Bosendorfer sample sets out there. I still love the version that I have for ST 2.5, though I now also have it in ST3/ST4 format as well. As you noted, it's that resonance that makes it a winner.

Not sure what happened to the "more to come" part of the original announcement...

I picked the this as part of my group buy. It sounds really good. One of the best on the market for this genre.
