I found an old thread in here that claimed this does exist. I've looked high and low for it and had no luck. Anyone have any ideas? The old thread points to a site that is gone, nobody ever mentioned who made the thing or even what it's called. If anyone has any idea where I can find this please let me know.
TIA!
TIA!

It wasn't especially masterful in its execution, if I recall. I can't remember who made it, but it was done in the early days of Synthedit.
Fretted Synth's Free Amp 2 (a guitar synth is one of the modules) and GVST's GSinthG (still in beta) will do as much for you.

What he said...similar,(and better), sounds can also be acheivedshamann wrote:It wasn't especially masterful in its execution, if I recall. I can't remember who made it, but it was done in the early days of Synthedit.

with various filter and distortion plugs. That being said, the
Microsynth clone sounded OK and GUI was spot on..enough to
piss of EH designer and tone guru Mike Matthews...now you know
why its gone!!

Remember now, it was Mobile Sound Unit. I vaguely remember seeing him around in early SE days on the SE forums. Don't know where he got to. He had a couple of fun plugins, Time mangler and Loop scratcher (or time scratcher and loop mangler, something like that).

Shamann, thanks for the sugestions, tried them both out. The freeamp synth is pretty cool but I couldn't get quite the same kind of thing out of it. GSinthG seems to have a good chunk of the right features and might get me there with a couple of other plugins, but the responsiveness in terms of both latency and detection doesn't seem to be there yet. Any suggestions on any combination of plugins that might get me there? Also, even if it's not quite all that, could somebody maybe email me the DLL for the pseudo EHX thingy.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It was too well done ! And focking free, but as limited as the original one !

That MicroSynth clone wasn't all that well done, it just looked too close to the original - it even said Electro Harmonix right on it! I mean, that just IS illegal! The attack delay is inop on it and the high octave also doesn't work correctly.
There is an EFM Stompers 2.0 12 pack of free fx - try the GSynth into the FreeAmp2 synth! Also - Fretted Synth is already working on FreeAmp3 which will have new stuff added to the synth section, and EFM has promised an expanded GSynth to be introduced in a matter of a couple of weeks.

I have the Microsynth FX still. I dig it, despite it's tendancies to crash, etc. It's one of those lost VST's that people seek out like a holy grail and never use once they (re)obtain it..
Still pretty cool tho. Very beefy..

The EFM GSynth has a beefy octave fuzz tone like that MicroSynth plug but it tracks better and there is square, triangle and saw waveforms to choose from. No envlopes or filters yet, but there is an expanded one on the way or you can run it into the FreeAmp2 synth section.Sickle wrote:I have the Microsynth FX still. Here is the thread that introduces the 2.0 version of the EFM Stompers, and also tells about the plans for the soon to be released expanded version of the GSynth:

Edit: Also, be sure to try all four of Fretted Synths audio triggered synths: http://frettedsynth.asseca.com/atsynths.html
These are TRUE synths (oscillators and all) and go FAR beyond the capabilities of the original MicroSynth and track very well, especially above the third fret or so!! These are in addition to the synth section of FreeAmp2, which uses the guitar tone as an oscillator instead of using pitch to CV like the audio triggered synths.

I didn't like it when it came on the market for the first time. With all respect for Electro Harmonix; I used to dig a lot some of it's other pedals.
Right now there is realy interesting stuff, mentioned already here above.
Cheers,
