Get f**ked. I was crude but at least i was being helpful to the original poster. If everyone here was as useless as runagate, telling everyone who posted a question here to essentially f**k off, you wouldn't have a forum.

True, but by attacking his music we play into his hands and make it some sort of "this genre is unsophisticated crap" bitchfest, when the real issue was just that he was being obnoxious.Get f**ked. I may personally hold runagate's music in disdain (I don't know, haven't bothered to check it out) but whether he's a good artist or not is a bit beside the point, don't you think, when him being antisocial was the problem.

xolax wrote:I know that all of you people hate "tarnce", but lately all Ive been listening to is psytrance and now ive been trying to make some of my own. Ive got the 2 of the foundations down - the drums and the bassline, but here's where I get stuck. When I listen to psytrance, I hear a lot of really subtle sounds that are not your straightforward leads like in other types of dance music. So Ive been trying to figure out what kind of sounds psytrance uses - I cant seem to find something that fits just right (in the lead department). When I listen, I dont even hear any definate leads. Any advice??
Hello xolax,
there are some production tips geared towards Psy/Goa trance on my website that you may find useful:

If you have either Albino or a Virus B, there are also a couple of banks of patches for download to get you started:

Best wishes with you music,

But actually runagate works with a lot of developers around here. And he has never been anything but polite when commenting on people's music in the cafe. And again, his remarks were general, not personal.hoffy wrote:Get f**ked. I was crude but at least i was being helpful to the original poster. In short: he was rude, you were more rude. And now you are telling me to 'get f**ked' for pointing this out. This is a strangely inconsistent sense of forum etiquette you seem to have.
But really, I mean it: do discuss goa and psytrance and the making thereof. And I wish you good day.

Yeah, i wish you a lovely day too. I don't really mean half the insults i throw around here (probably a lot less than half, actually...)
I just have a pretty low tolerance for the elitists amongst these forums, and there are several.

Hey thanks for the advice/columns - I actually went over all of them that you have posted after the person on the last page recommended me to check them out. I appreciate the info.bagginz wrote:xolax wrote:I know that all of you people hate "tarnce", but lately all Ive been listening to is psytrance and now ive been trying to make some of my own. You guys should just let stupid people be. If they want to be unhelpful assholes then just ignore them - dont stoop to their level. I didnt want or mean for this thread to turn into the same thing as the "complexity of trance music" one in everything else
EDIT: I thought psy and goa had a better reputation than this

Usually when hoffy says shit like that, it gets on my tits, but I can't help but think that runagate deserved it

As anyone who's been here long knows I am just as happy with personal attacks on my music as any other reaction. Though I agree that, in general, people shouldn't go around attacking others' music here as some people are quite sensitive to it. But as to mine - go for it. Hoffy said something? I must have muted him long ago; I almost forgot he existed.The Chase wrote:Usually when hoffy says shit like that, it gets on my tits, but I can't help but think that runagate deserved it

<late to the party lol>
PsyTarnce-- Highpass/Bandpass saw. Hold off the chorusing, but modulate the shit out of the pitch and filters in any way you can possibly dream up. I got some nice psytrance leads/basses coming up on a project Teksonik and I are doing on Discovery for Pro-Sounds.
