Checking at the Audio Ease forum, it was mentioned by a poster that the Pace iLok drivers must be installed even to use the challenge/response copy protection. Which is no better than using the Pace dongle, really. It's the Pace software/iLok drivers I want to keep off of my system.
Does anybody know about this? The original poster at the Audio Ease forum isn't getting any info from the Audio Ease folks.
Which brings up the question- does anyone here use Audio Ease software? I've never purchased from them before. If I'm going to spend $500 on an effect, I'll want to know I can get some support for it. Good experiences? Bad ones?

yeah.... that was me posting on the forum... i also have a thread started here at kvr asking for help from anyone who has experience using pace interlok drivers... i recieved my copy of speakerphone 6 days ago and still have not been able to install the setup exe.. because the speakerphone setup program keeps telling me that i need to install the pace tpkd drivers... when im fact i have installed and uninstalled them more than a dozen times.. rebooting after each step.. the pace set up file shows up in the controll panel as being installed and if i do a search for the tpkd driver its found in my system32 drivers folder... i have posted quite a few times in the audio ease forum with no response from a moderator and am waiting on an email response from support that i sent 4 days ago... i know that they must be busy with the launch of this new program... but i would expect after paying the hefty price of thier program that they would not leave me hanging..
by the way... if anyone has any advice on how to trouble shoot this pace issue please do...
i am running windows xp sp2 and i am not using an ilok dongle.. just simply trying to get the damn pace interlok drivers to install properly.. i would appreciate any advice.....

Well, hello again, anothercomposer.
You're being very patient. Not a word of reply to your posts at the Audio Ease forum.
I got a reply over there within minutes when I posted a question about purchasing.
They're scaring me away, I think.

Yeah, I think I might need saving on this one, too, hbidy. It's a lot of $$.
Maybe Pace iLok is my friend in a backwards kind of way. It keeps me from buying quite a bit of tempting software.

That's not the norm for Audio Ease service in my experience, but I agree this was poorly handled, and I'm sure I would have been pretty upset myself. Perhaps the Speakerphone release is taxing their resources?anothercomposer wrote:yeah.... that was me posting on the forum... i also have a thread started here at kvr asking for help from anyone who has experience using pace interlok drivers...
Anyhow, looks like they're working on your problem now (I see the response on their forum)... hope they get things sorted for you.

(that said, I am working on speaker cab sims that should beat Speakerphone's, but I'm not even going to pretend I can make a full setup so amazing for postproduction and really flexible soundshaping as Speakerphone, so I'm honestly not their competition, it's apples and oranges

So does this allow for a challenge/response option instead of the iLok dongle itself, like a lot of pace products do?

They allow you to authorize to your hard drive with C/R or to an iLok dongle, but both options use Pace drivers, which I gather is the part a lot of people don't like.MitchK1989 wrote:So does this allow for a challenge/response option instead of the iLok dongle itself, like a lot of pace products do?

Yeah... I don't really mind the pace drivers, and wouldn't mind the ilok itself if I wasn't planning on moving to a macbook pro in the future, which means I'd prefer to keep the USB slots open for midi controllers and not have to lug around a hub...polyslax wrote:They allow you to authorize to your hard drive with C/R or to an iLok dongle, but both options use Pace drivers, which I gather is the part a lot of people don't like.MitchK1989 wrote:So does this allow for a challenge/response option instead of the iLok dongle itself, like a lot of pace products do?

Your stuff is Mac only, though, right?

Ah crap. So it is Pace iLok or Pace drivers AND challenge/response. Not really an either/or. Well, that's just copy protection hell to me. The two most intrusive cp schemes all rolled into one big

You only have to look around posts on KVR to see how much this type of copy protection pisses people off. It's a shame really, as good products aren't getting buyers because of it.Cordelia wrote:Ah crap. So it is Pace iLok or Pace drivers AND challenge/response. Not really an either/or.
