You can also drag the zone directly on the piano roll and set it to where you want.

2. In the ¨names and ranges¨ section I raised the ¨hi¨ range in key to ¨c2¨. SC2 splits the loop across your keyboard for you.

At least, other than that problem I've had when SC2 is databasing from scratch, I haven't had a problem with what Jake has stated in his PDF.
1. Can other people weigh in here? (Claes?) Does SC2 support Giga? I only tried 2-3 times, and all of the files were large piano files. None loaded. Is support based on the size or complexity of the instruments? On the version of Giga they were created in? More generally, is there a list of which formats absolutely do and don't load?

2. I'm working on two more sections of the "manual" that cover more details on creating and editing a multisample (the Sel layer button,right-clicking on samples, etc. and the organization of instruments: zones\layers\parts, etc and when to work where.) Can other people take on bits and pieces of things? If you could just cover a single box on the Zones page or the Part or FX page, we could build this fairly fast. Maybe a screen-shot of the box followed by a table that explains the use of each parameter? Two hours of work for some boxes? Many hands making small work and all of that.

(And I'm sure I'll be asking several questions about the Mod Matrix, particularly the math section at the far right. I've read the section in the wiki, but there's deep water there. for me, least. Help requested in advance.)

3. There are some things I just can't do, such as using it for drums. I understand that this subject would be larger than taking on a box or two on the Zones page. But I just don't have experience with Battery, etc, so I don't know how things should be configured. More help needed, in other words.

4. Page numbers? Can't believe I left them off. Of course, of course. Once more of this is pulled together, I want to create a good index, too, and ideally a reference section that includes tables briefly explaining all of the parameters on each screen, so people just wondering what something does could avoid skimming through the text.

I'll complete these next two sections in the next 2-3 days.

What about using the wiki on this site to compile it. It might be worth doing 2. One ¨Just get me started!¨ manual and a ¨I know kung Fu¨ technique manual.

This happend when I was using SC2 in stand alone window mode, in XT2 using WineASIO on Linux Ubuntu.

How are you loading the sample into SC2?
Can you open your loop in an audio editor to see if there are markers in it?
I opened this in Audicity....

But when I dragged it into SC2 it sliced auto maticly. Probably dragging samples into SC2 makes it decide whats the best load it.

I'm fine with putting it up on a wiki, too. That format makes finding things easier if you're just trying to learn what a specific button does, etc. I've been creating it in Word and then converting it to a pdf. That's the plan right now, just to have something that can be easily printed out.

And for writing and editing, Word is just much stronger--and there's lots of editing, since it's hard to know at times what to put where. I keep finding things that need to be explained before other things make sense. I'll have it done in two days or ideally less. Still have to proofread it and do the graphics... Then realize what I've left out and what I've included that no one needs to know.

Next, I want to get to the controls on the Zones page. Looking forward to that part, but I'm sure I'll get lost at times. Still hoping a few people will do some of the individual boxes or more.

maybe it just loads markered samples, rex and acid files... :(

I'm having trouble understanding the Controllers in the lower right corner of the Parts page. Nothing happens when I click in the text box or on the +\- sign next to it. I can type text in the box, but I don't know what to type. What is this area even for? (I was hoping it was for controllers like a pedal, midi cc's, etc. No?)

Are these instead controls that you assign to affect each Part, since there are 16 parts and 16 sliders, so you're free to name each part as you want? But if so, what does each slide control? They don't appear to control volume or the effects on the Part page. Lost, I am.

Thanks for any guidance.

Most likely they don't do anything. They have been like that since the alpha stages, so they have no function yet (or ever). Unless someone can prove me wrong (and pleeease do  )

Every time I load SC2 into eXT1.4 or eXT2, I get a kernal32 error when I try to open the gui. This results in eXT immediately quitting, and ultimately an unrequested XP shutdown.

I read this whole thread, and saw no mention of SC2 crashing in eXT. Maybe it's just me...

Yep - it's just you. SC & SC2 work in both eXT1.4 & eXT2 here. Wonder what the problem is? I wish I had an answer for you.

Jake: I'll send the GIG files I have to you for proof, if need be. Yes/No?

Have a look at this...

http://www.openoffice.org/index.html

Its set out like word but alot more flexible and free for all formats.

http://www.gimp.org/features/

This is a good image editor and also free.

I can help with the set out. If you provide the words I can make it into a manual. Ive always thought the Ableton Live manual was pretty well laid out. Let us know what you want it to look like.

As for graphics: Are we aloud to use the graphics created for SC?

before you can use the controllers you have to setup up (map) each one first. go to the config window and ie. map controller 1 to midi CC 8 .... now you can use controller 1 as a modulation source in the modulation matrix . now you can tweak CC8 in your midi controller to obtain modulation (the controller sliders in sc2 will move when you tweak the midi controller)

Many thanks. This means that you can create sustain samples on a separate layer, etc. Very good news.

I think I understand. So after I set up the controllers on the Config page, it can be used as a source in the mod matrix on the Zones page? Then about the sliders on the Part page--I can name each one, although the name won't show up on the mod matrix, just the number for slider\control. But what are the sliders themselves used for? Do they constrain the movement of the control? (If I slide one of them over, and then press the +\- button next to it, it only moves as far as the slider was moved

And if you have time to look at this with me: What about the separate Modulation Routing thing on the Part page? I'm having trouble seeing how the destinations there fit in with the destinations on the mod matrix on the Zones page. (Trying to determine both the sequence--does the source first effect the destinations in the mod matrix & then the destinations in the Modulation Routing--and how the combinations would work out. What happens if you put make the sustain pedal switch between two layers on the mod matrix and also route it to balance on the Modulation Routing, etc...and would I want to...?)

Well, send me one, whichever is smaller, so I can try it out here. I'll pm you my e-mail. Send it as soon as you can--I'd like to finish up the current pages in the next day or two.

Has anyone found a list of what formats are officially supported. Soundfonts, SFZ files, and what else? Akai?

try it with a self-created drum-loop and you will realize that then there is no automatic slicing. ;-)
