I've downloaded Kore player for free and got it set up as a vsti.
The sounds on it are lush and fairly tweekable.
I found a nice double bass sound that I'm using for a dub track.
I'd recomend it for anyone who wants to find patches quickly without having to synthesise one from scratch. I also own NI express keyboards and I think this is actualy better as you get the player and a large library of sounds for free. I will most likely be tempted into buying some more patches for Kore in the future.

Lucknow13 did you opt for the vst to be installed during set up?
I use Sonar and pointed my vst setup at the program files/cakewalk/sonar/vst folder (although it was already selected by defult).
With some DAWs (like Sonar)you need to use a configuration tool before the DAW will recognise that a vst is installed.
Good luck with the set up anyway. It took me a while to gt it working how I wanted it to but it was worth the effort.

I downloaded it ok, but when I try to boot it up, my computer freezes. Any thoughts?

Do you meet the minimum specs? They're understated as is IMO...

..ew, can i bother in this thread for some help? I wanted to buy a soundpack, but read on the NI forum that the packs install on a default path and will look for the Kore-player on it's default location. In my wisdom i installed the player on another location, decided to uninstall because of what i read, installed again on the default location in order to get the Sound pack working [which i haven't bought yet] but now, altough i still have all the registration info ánd the .narf/arf? file, everytime i restart the Kore player it does not remember it's activation and i have to go through the motions again, and again, and again. I really like the Kore player, so any suggestions?

I had a few problems with setup.
I was playing with the audio options and trying direrent settings e.g. aiso and direct sound, and it started to crash every time iI tryed to change the setting. I ended up un-instaling and re-instaling it. I had to use the licence code from the original email again but after that it worked fine.
I guess PC specs may be an issue for some. If you don't have a powerful PC you should make sure you know the requirements before instalation.
Good luck to all, if you get it working it realy is a great program. :)

Is it doing that as a standalone or as a plugin? If it's doing it as a plugin, run the player as a standalone (make sure it's activated there) and reboot. Then, do a forced rescan of your plugins with your host.

Am I imagining things or does Kore Player really not respond to MIDI CC 7 (volume) on all patches? I'm using an Axiom 61 and I swear that on some patches my volume pedal does not work, yet it works on other patches as expected. This makes the player "useless as tits on a boar" for live playing. Even when a patch does not respond to the volume pedal, I can see that pedal activity both on the player MIDI activity indicator and on MIDIox - so I know the problem is not caused by a faulty/intermittant pedal. Also, it kinda sucks that we cant at least choose a few performance pre-sets. $495 for Kore-2 is a bit too much. I like the sounds included with the player but not knowing how the soundpack patches will react to the volume pedal is going to cause my wallet (and credit card) to stay tightly closed for now.

I don't have the player installed, so I can't say if that's the case or not (I really should install it sometime   ). With Kore 2, you definitely can assign cc#7 to everything.

Also, remember that Kore (1 or 2) works as a host/minihost plugin for all your plugins; you aren't stuck with the sounds that come with it or are in different soundpacks. You can make your own .ksds for your own plugins (and edit the NI factory .ksds if you have the full versions of the corresponding NI plugins).

...I have just played with the Kontakt Sax and Brass library. Although the samples were already included in the Kontakt 3 library this KoreSoundPack really makes a difference. I don't know what I'm doing (better, what IT is doing), but you play a few lines and it sounds GREAT! :o  Really cool scripting! for 50 bucks it's a no-brainer (and even better - I have won it last week from a research NI did recently :D)...
