Love the spacey guitars and alt-ish melodies. Some truly beautiful moments. What do you use for guitar fx? You hooked up with a singer for this stuff yet? Seems like a few of your jams would really go over the top with vocals treated like your guitars in them. The buzz bass is awesome in the 4-5 minute mark. Great jam.

Thanks for listening Jazzyspoon. For the clean guitars I used overloud's TH1 and soundtoys echoboy. For the distorted guitars and bass I used waves GTR 3.5, Revalver 3 and Line 6 Podfarm. Part of the fun is hearing the different sorts of sounds I can summon from these plugins.

Singing would be cool. If you want to take a stab at it, that would be cool.

I like everything, especially the lead and the spaces, floating feel - except the intro - which I love - but distracts from the whole by sounding unrelated and preparing you for something entirely different (possibly a good thing, sequenced on an album) and the outro simply because it tapers off.

Very nice track! Some really killer guitar sounds in here. I'm curious about the part starting just after 4:30ish: is that layers of the same instrument or just extremely tight guitar/bass playing? Not flashy or anything, but that's one of my favorite parts just for the tone, however it came about.

Well I strummed it, but pitchshifted it up an octave without preserving the original speed. So it's double the original strum speed.

I agree about the intro. I think it's formally distinct from the rest of the song which as you say may or may not be a bad thing depending on the context.

Thanks for listening Kmeister. I rarely cut the low freq's becuase I enjoy the warmth which I think partly comes from that range. Although sometimes I'm unsure if I'm sacrificing clarity.

Both prior to and after 4:30, the guitars are double tracked but the bass is a single take. Sometimes I purposely play a bit off/out of time so the double track is more apparent (sounds like two different players) but this time I tried to be as tight as possible.
At about 4:36 when the slower guitars come in is my favorite part. I love slow overdriven distorted guitar sounds.
