I don't know Session Drummer but the USD kits are Kontakt 3 Instruments (and multis?) which make extensive use of the Kontakt Scripts. I would not think that SD3 can handle thesesergiobklyn wrote:I just placed my order and can't wait to get the stuff. I know it can be played via Kontakt, but I'd still like to know if it can be used with SD3 so that I can post a more educated post at the Sonar forum.

You can bet your horses on that.ebow wrote:i wonder if squids is gonna wait till the the whole world has past the 30th ???....only 7 hours where i am....how many hours left by the last time zone ???
Squids said he would be not participating much in discussions today because he will be helping his team with the final programming and preparation. Based on past experience, it is almost a given that they will be working late into the evening (Pacific West Coast time zone) to get this ready.
The end of this group buy (for numbers) is officially 15 and 1/2 hours from now.
But we can make 600... or close enough to it that we will get the bonus material! Now if we could make 650 the extra OWD kit would be even more delicious...

If you're using Session Drummer 3, I take it that you have Sonar 8 or 8.5.DarkStar wrote:I don't know Session Drummer but the USD kits are Kontakt 3 Instruments (and multis?) which make extensive use of the Kontakt Scripts. Well, the kits in this GB allow you to use NI's free Kontakt Player without restriction (that's what the Infinite Player is all about -- it's really just a way of authorizing the samples; telling the Kontakt Player that these samples can be played without restrictions) -- which is a VST you can use in Sonar, just like you use Session Drummer 3.
But better than Session Drummer 3, the Kontakt Player and Kontakt (full version) enable much more complex sample functionality like complex layers, round robins and scripting -- all of which can be very useful for making drum kits sound more realistic. The bottom line, in this case, is that you won't get the machine gun effect when you use these kits in the Kontakt Player like you would with Session Drummer, so the result is that your drum patterns and fills will sound a lot more realistic.
I hope that helps.

i also wondered if we would get the bonus stuff if we al-most got there...like if we only hit 594 or something...felt it a little bold to ask.....zedd wrote:You can bet your horses on that.ebow wrote:i wonder if squids is gonna wait till the the whole world has past the 30th ???....only 7 hours where i am....how many hours left by the last time zone ???

I won't be able to post too many stories today. Final wrap up and figure out the best way to deliver. We may have to do this in phases like - Phase 1: Infinite Player and the OWD Kits, Phase 2: The DM2 Signature Kits, Phase 3: Hyrbrid patches, impulses etc (still working on whether they can be used outside of Kontakt - I think so but want to check that out myself if I can before I say definitively yes). But that's not the official word. Our web team is concerned about 550+ people all downloading over 20 gigabytes on New Year's. Never been in this particular situation before so bear with us. We may have to be creative so as to avoid a cluster of issues.

Hi DarkStar and eDrummist,
Thanks for the replies. I have Kontakt 3.5.0 and 4.0.3 so it is no problem for me. I understand the benefits of the Kontakt engine vs that of SD3. I just wanted to know if these could be played using SD3 as more Sonar users might be inclined to buy the product.

I remember the Grays quite well (and of course Jellyfish), and there was a local Miami band that was heavily influenced by both of them a few years back... I saw Jellyfish open for Tears For Fears here years ago as well (I love TFF) and they were quite good, gotta love singing drummers...Squids wrote:I saw Jason not that long ago mastering his latest album at Ocean Way (well over a year ago at this point, time flies). Nice guy. Extremely talented. I'm good friends with Lyle Workman who replaced Jason for the album Spilt Milk and also Jon Brion who also played guitar and other assorted noises on that album. Lyle also played with Kevin Gilbert who I played keyboards with in the mid 90's.michael2 wrote: small world: Jason from Jellyfish played on a bunch of stuff we did. THanks again for everthing (and for putting this together).
But there was a band called The Grays that I know some people here are aware of. It's one of those bands that only certain people know but when they do they RAVE about it...

Here's an idea. Set up a bittorrent as an alternate download for people to use if the traffic is too high, and make it temporary for just the first week.Squids wrote:I won't be able to post too many stories today.
