+1 for Hybrit. Makes the Marshalls in Guitar Rig sound silly. I haven't tried this one yet(not a big hi-gain type guy), but if it's as good as Hybrit, I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

It's certainly not just high gain. The clean channel is gorgeous. It does everything in between as well.heffus wrote:+ I haven't tried this one yet(not a big hi-gain type guy)

I've used Hybrit a lot. And I am really surprised about it - a superb sound - it has this special "mojo". If Lextac plays in the same league, o.k. then it is a sensation!

I am not a guitarist but I have worked a lot with live rock bands and I know what an amplified guitar sounds like up close (and, yes, my hearing is now much the worse for wear!)
I have struggled to find a sample/amp/cab sim that goes even close to recreating this, even though some of them sound very nice indeed and can work well in recordings.
The thing that I had given up hope for was the visceral "attack/body/weight" that live guitar has in abundance but that is usually not available (and to be fair wouldn't be welcome in many mix-a-song scenarios) in sims.
When the signal is processed and friendlied-up during tracking/mixing what little is there is often squeezed out, giving the regulation sounds-just-like-a-guitar-but-not-really.
I know that much of the live impact comes from SPL, and that's not going to happen in a recording any time soon.
Part of me though wants to simulate the experience a bit larger than life so it can survive the patting into shape that recording technology requires.
Some of the ABG sims nearly did this, and some of the recabinet impulses give a hint.
LeXTAC pretty well nails this. Lyrical Distortion's brilliant 'Les Paul Power Chords' through this amp, through LeCab with some lovely recabinet impulses has the best weight and impact I have heard so far.
I love it, and it even does a great job on bass guitar.
Goes to the top of my heap.

I tried it too last night and I have to agree this is an excellent amp sim. I tried it with the default internal LeCab IR and it sounded great. It's not the typical hi gain stuff. Lovely clean and crunch/break-up tones.
Congrats LePou! This is really a keeper (goes in the same folder with my payware ampsim plugins).

Excellent!! Lepou, you've done it again. It's good to be alive. After Hybrit and this, plus LeCab, I would be wrong if I didn't donate at least a little something.
