After thirty years giving concerts throughout the world classical guitarist Josep Henríquez, who born in Barcelona, is still today in great demand as a classical guitarist by cultural associations, international music festivals and important theatres world around. His musical personality and instrumental technique have earned him an international reputation.
He has played throughout all continents, given recitals at such prestigious venues as the Tchaikowsky Theatre in Moscow, Wigmore Hall in London, Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., Cemal Resit Rey in Istambul and the Beijng Concert Hall in Pekin. He has also participated in international festivals and performed as guest soloist with major symphony and chamber orchestras, such as the Stuttgartner Philharmoniker (D), the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Saint Petersburg, the Sønderjylland Symfoniorkester (DK), the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, "Puellarum Praguensis" and "Virtuosi di Praga", Orchesta Amadeus (Egypt), the Peking Philharmonic Orchestra (China).
As a pedagogue, in 1981 maestro Henríquez was the guitar professor at the Music and Arts Institute of San Francisco, California; since 1982, he is head of the Guitar Department at the Music Conservatory of Granollers, Barcelona. In 1992 Maestro Henríquez was invited by the Spanish Government to create the "Aula de Guitarra Andrés Segovia" at the Central Conservatory of Music in Peking.
In addition to performing, he is often request to give master classes and lecture demostrations around the world and has served as judge for international competitions.
