Any samples running through Absynth or Alchemy can heavily be mangled and twisted to a high level of unrecognition.

The bestest, ultimatest sound design f*ckuperer you can have is Metasynth. It's not a plugin but it can import/export audio. You could spend a lifetime learning it's depths.

Tried the demo out a while back, and was amazed.
All I kept thinkin was, "if I could learn the ins and outs of this, that would be great". Unfortunately I couldn't really afford it then or today.
It would also need a lot of time and effort to learn to use it as well.
It's certainly on my top list of amazing sound design software though.

Yeah I agree Metasynth is probably on the top of the list, king of the manglers. Not cheap and not easy to use, but what a crazy beast

Yes MS is a universe unto itself. You are limited only by your imagination...mcnoone wrote:Definitely!!!auricle wrote:The bestest, ultimatest sound design f*ckuperer you can have is Metasynth. It's not a plugin but it can import/export audio. You could spend a lifetime learning it's depths.

I was a major MS evangelist for a while (I guess I still am?).
I made some things to try to make it more accessible to new users and more powerful for pros as well:

There are also some videos here with various insights:

Galbanum's Metasynth products are top notch. There's absolutely tons of extra sounds, patches, etc to use and all of them high quality.Galbanum wrote:Yes MS is a universe unto itself. What made you move away from it Andrew?

Thanks.auricle wrote: Galbanum's Metasynth products are top notch. There's absolutely tons of extra sounds, patches, etc to use and all of them high quality.
I did NOT move away from MS. I still use it all the time. I use it whenever I do a creative project (scoring or music production), and also when making Galbanum Sample Line products. There is nothing else like it.auricle wrote: What made you move away from it Andrew?
Things are simply very busy with 2Caudio, and unfortunately, I am only one person. So I am not as active with trying to evangelize the world regarding the power of MetaSynth, at the moment. So it sort of remains an esoteric tool for "those in the know"...
But I can tell you with 100% certainty that 99% of the who's who of really top sound-designers in music and film and television, and many of the very best in electronic music are huge MetaSynth fans. Not without reason...
It does require effort to get the most out of it. It's "a thinking man's tool" to one degree or another... It's not 100% plug-and-play instant satisfaction--though I did try to make it somewhat easier with the AV1 content DVD... if you invest the effort (and $--it is not cheap) it will completely change your production and sound-design skill level and understanding in ways you simply can't imagine. It can literally, permanently change your understanding of organized sound for the better...
A large part of the reason I am as knowledgeable as i am today, is from spending months/years in deep thought regarding things that were initially inspired by MS...
ok, enough evangelism... back to 2Caudio work...
