Hi UHE,
I am interested in Using Diva with my midi guitar controller. I might be able to verify its usefulness to me if I could download the manual?
If not,
1. Does the Diva respond to midi mono or said differently is the Diva at least 6 channel multitimbral?
2.does the Diva have a simple way to set Pitchbend range to +,-24(globally)?
3. Does the Diva have a way to assign global cc's? So that I could send midi volume on one channel and control all of the different timbres simultaneously?
I really like Zebra and I did use the demo for a while but it was after I bought it that I found out that the implementation in the areas that I described above are not real guitar player friendly. I guess I really dived into Zebra once I got serious enough to part with the cash!
I would like to see if even some of the things that would make Diva be in the wheel house of a guitar controller are implebted before I buy and wait and hope for these improvements.
Make no mistake the UHE stuff sounds amazing!
I hope the guitar specific angles hav been incorporated.
Thanks,
Al

If it works don't fix it unless you have to update it, then if it doesn't work don't fix it unless it belongs to your Wife, then at that point bury it!

There's no manual yet but there's a fully functional demo until 12/31/2011. Just go to u-he.com to download.
1. No, like Zebra Diva is not multi-timbral.
2. Yes, transpose up and transpose down go up to 24 semis separately.
3. Yes, right-click an element and then choose Midi Learn, then move the controller.
The midi implementation is pretty much identical to ACE or Zebra. If those didn't meet your needs then Diva won't either. At least not today. Urs has said he's going to re-work midi for his instruments. No time frame though.

The guitar stuff will come next year, to all u-he synths - I wanted to get Diva out for Christmas, but there was no way we could get this done with the MIDI additions. We really tried our best, but we ran into quite some trouble with multicore and MIDI...

I don't understand what you are answering in #2...
I asked about Pitchbend range, not note transposition..
Please clarify,
Thanks,
Al

I do understand how these things go.
I'm just more than ready at this point with the wonderful computer based audio tools to work in a way that I can actually use them as a guitarist in a live performance scene.
I like the challenge of workarouds to get what I need but as the pile-up goes I find I spend way too much time and effort whipping my laptop rig into shape prior to a performance.
I will anxiously await the day when these guitar friendly additions find their way into the market.
Thanks,
Al

Al, sorry it was a bit confusing. This picture should help:misteralan wrote:I don't understand what you are answering in #2...

The "Up" and "Down" options specify your pitch bend range in semitones. I have it set to the maximum 2 octaves for both.

Yes BM(the BM name truncation result sounds funny to me but:-)bmrzycki wrote:Al, sorry it was a bit confusing. This picture should help:misteralan wrote:I don't understand what you are answering in #2...

This is great! I may now purchase the Diva as this PB range setting to achieve +/- 24 in the Diva UI is different and easier than my beloved Zebra.
In order to get a 2 octave PB range from the Z additional modulation had to be added to the PB range setting...
Not the end of he world but kinda awkward to do this mod patch hexaphonically for every patch while I was just auditioning sounds with my guitar midi controller
Thanks again,
Al

Might be worth asking for +/-24 semis in Zebra pitch bend in the Improvements thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=176001misteralan wrote:This is great! Mrzycki is pretty straightforward to me...
I have communicated the Pitchbend improvement to Urs about a year ago.
There is a big midi update in the plans for all Uhe stuff....but I am glad that this PB range thing was included in the Diva at least for now. It makes using these instruments way more practical with the GR-55...which has a fixed PB setting of +/-24.
I contacted Roland regarding this and their legal department responded saying that the device functions as described:-(
It's amazing that lawyers are the experts in guitar synth development these days.
So I hold little hope that they will see the wisdom in making their flagship guitar synth more compatible with products already in the market(even some Roland products)
Oh well,
Thanks Brian Mrzycki,
Al
