A funny thing happened on the way to the forum, I became a mod. Got a parka and a lambretta too. Then the site update caused a few problems, like all the text going awol. And then shutdown. I was a mod for three working days !!!
Had to send the lambretta back but got to keep the parka.
Image MM was there when I needed it and I got a couple hundred vst, I didn't even know existed, thanks to all the contributors. If you didn't post in six months you were deleted, so you would have to rejoin for posting and download links.

It had it's day and now it's gone, harsh reality. But if you're reading this Bam, thanks for the ride. Synthforum.nl here I come.........or the belgian variant maybe. Maybe I'll get a vespa.........................

what it came down to is that bam is a musician, not a webhost, and asked for others to take over running the forum.
i just didn't have time or interest, as these days i'm all about building my own hardware effects and things.
also, so few peeps were participating, and he didn't want another "zombie" forum...he had a version on facebook, but i believe it got shut down over some of the files linked to it being possibly unethical.
what it all comes down to in the end is that bbs forums like this are losing ground in popularity to social networking sites...nobody has to work so hard to maintain contact, and running a website forum is a lot of work and an expense.
i will try and contact bam and see if he's up for re-opening midimusiker for a week or two so peeps can save their stuff, but i doubt he'll be interested.

also, it may have had to do with audiopalace pulling the plug...they owned the hosting for mm, and had threatened to pull the plug in the past. the laws are different in different parts of the world, but in deutschland legality is taken pretty seriously...and if some numbnuts posted warez or even freeware alternatives to stuff audiopalace was selling, that could have been the end, too.
i'll try and get ahold of bam or tox and find out what REALLY happened.
peace, and happy new years, me boyos...

I've got a feeling he's been somehow forced to end MM for some reason because he had just put together and uploaded another massive compilation of freebies and that's not something someone would do if he intended to put a stop to everything I guess.

Post

Really should not have changed his name to TeAmBaM :uhuhuh:

Post

uploaded revised version of that sim3x thing:

http://www.box.com/s/ne0atfaq5ixj6h80yq5g

fixes a few things; should respond to host randomize ok now,
cheers bob. might as well dump any previous download of it ;)

i dl'd the image of that plugins folder, btw, and we all should
have them all anyway. again('i said it before, and i'll say it again...'
ferris bueller..), the notion of a drag'n'drop VST freebie library is
not so dumb...one day all main manufacturers will have a VST-loading
synthesizer, and the notion of an 'industry-standard' free plugin menu
won't be so appalling.

good to hear you're still wielding the soldering iron, Jimi! how about
building some kind of modular fx unit? anyway, look forward to seeing the
JimiTron...

i got a hold of bam, for some reason he didn't show up on the facebook search function, but he was still on my friends list, so i sent a pm.

the owner of audiopalace shut it down.

from bam:
"say thank you to markshock, he closed the side in a minute. he is the owner of the side audiopalace

maybe I make later a new project"
so i'd say it had nothing to do with him. it's probable that someone bitched at markshock about that "freeware" bundle. i didn't even check it out (cuz at this point i probably seem to have most of the freeware out there) but i bet something or other had a EULA prohibiting distribution. i know bam intended no wrong, he's an ace cat in all ways, but he doesn't speak english real well so maybe he misinterpreted something..

or more likely, someone ELSE had uploaded it somewhere, and he linked to it assuming all was cool. the laws are different where bam lives, i forget, but it's like croatia or something....but audiopalace is in germany, and from what i understand deutsch law is very strict about enforcing laws that may have had something to do with it.

i don't know. it's a shame that it went down like that, but i'm sure both sides have their own reasons/opinions.

if bam starts another forum project, i'll let ya know.

peace, and have a great new year..

also..

if anyone here is into it, i'm at facebook.com/pinkjimiphoton or @pinkjimiphoton on twitter. follow me, i'll follow you and we can dance around in circles.

oh yah, the place i played last nite also had a dj, using traktor.
WOW. it was too loud, clipped and bass heavy for my taste, but it was amazing to watch...and some of the filter plugs he was using were absolfuckinlutely insane!

i finally have seen what all the fuss is about nowadays with dj's...never thought of them as musicians, but in their own way they are, it was cool...they play their GEAR as an instrument.

man...one day i'd love to have one mix sound for me live...i bet it would be bloody amazing, ;)

anyways...be well my friends..

sim-3x v0157,minor fixes. that'll prolly be it for that one,
if you'd be kind enough to re-dl.

hope you all have a great 2012, win the lottery, good health, stuff like that.

Sounds cool, PinkJimi, DJ's definitely do stuff, but I guess today, you have them all using the same synths so it quickly looks uninspired.

I used to play with a demo version of Atomix, you could play 2 loops and scratch, I was so in love with it. One of these days I'll have to attempt a clone in Synthedit, I do have a record scratch plugin in the works called funky honky.

Happy new year to all, Hope everybody has a really good one :tu:

Regarding MM forum, No bad feelings there as far as i am concerned, Just did not/can not understand anything but english (and yeah i know, Even that is debatable/very questionable!). Maybe Kaveman is more apt to decribe my online communication skills. It is always a shame to hear that a useful resource has gone but heck with KVR it is plenty for me and then many others which i sometimes stop in at like Ronnie's awesome rekkerd site, bpb great site of uber-linkage to immense freeness. Guitar Amp Modelling, Ultimate Metal plus others and the one i have an account at but never really use: that "Gearslutz" place.

If i did not have responsibilites i would definately be around more but i am lucky to get a few hours to spend on the web and so stick to what i am comfortable with. KVR is how i know so many top-notch dudes as proper friends. Can not beat that :D

I facebook also and it'd be a pleasure to catch up with folk on there as and when, My bro Jimi is maybe the main reason i started to use it and yeah data mining or not it is pretty handy/rapid to stay in touch with people. Hit me up if you think i am not a tosser here - http://www.facebook.com/NekroSoundsAudio

Thanks for the new/fixed up release of the synth Dom mate, I always dig your stuff, Same Spacedad and RunBeerRun, Have a good 2012 i hope. All the best to everyone and well this thread is beyond epic \m/

Dean and Family :)

Edit 3: Jimi, I would happily do teching/live sound and indeed the engineering and mixing for you anytime if it were possible brother but you know there is just that matter of a feckin' ocean between us and commitments. I recently was told to do a twitter thing mate and its @DeanNekro, Next time i am using it i will hunt you down of course. Although i know not much about them modern/cutting edge DJ setups (teh metal don't get spinned/scratched prolly due to non-ear friendly type thing) Unless Korn are considered metal with thier claims of being inovaters of that awful dubstep thing which to me sounds like neither metal/rock or dubstep...Just duff. Saw some dude with a Novation Twitch and a laptop using something similar to Traktor called 'Itch' by Serato. What he did with just them two things was totally sick even though it is not my cup of strange brew sometimes :o & :-o, When i asked WTF i had seen someone informed me it was not DJ'ing or even remixing but infact termed as 'controllerism' and well it is sort of like DJ'ing/Remixing/Mashups on steroids:

Impressive fo'sure, Makes us guitarists/bass/synthesizer/drummer/instrument plays look like archaic simpletons  and :help: but most of all RESPECT

Post

ok i lied a bit about nothing susciting ( :D ) interest:
the new Native Instruments mini-massive thing looks quite
cool...but pfooo when do you ever get the time to use/learn/
integrate new gear/concepts? this is the fundamental problem:
not having three concurrent lives and about 5 separate brains.

here, you HAVE TO concede that Ableton is the b#ll#cks. i'm
a big fan of Orion but i'm gonna have to pick up one of those
Korg key/board/pad/controllers, for the included version of
Live...50 bucks vs 400?-odd for the full prog...
