+1. I know that Cubase engineers have come out and said this in their forums.pough wrote:The question is, is PreSonus an honest enough company to be willing to tell a large part of their userbase that their ears are, in fact, lying to them*? Some of the developer-run companies do (hello, Gol!) but larger companies seem to have marketing departments that would crucify anyone who perpetrates truth.lightsfadelow wrote:Wolfgang: can you please confirm Studio One does this?
* Studio One sounds exactly as good as it should. Much like all the rest. The lie is that it sounds inherently better due to Mysterious Process X

Wow, thanks for posting that video. I never heard about that effect before and I was completely baffled when watching it.Hink wrote: but the Mcgurk effect suggests the ears do,
Need to save that for future reference.

He is a marketing rep for the company posting on a company blog! Trying to make it sound like he is just some independent schmo is also part of his disingenuousness. Honesty is the best policy and I don't think this was honest at all. Like someone else said, he basically blames the readers for misunderstanding his 'honest' statement. Not that this is the developers that are at fault, but the company as a whole has to be responsible for what they, through whatever agents in their company, post on their company blog.SJ_Digriz wrote:Isn't that the #1 skill required for that job?tony tony chopper wrote:marketing guy ................ talking about something he's clueless about
But, I think you guys need to cut him some slack. He's just a guy writing on his own forum. I doubt very seriously he understood the context of his comment.

Is this video even 'legal'? The amount of mis-information and bull is seriously beyond the red mark! Aren't there laws for this type of bullshit? If not, don't we need some?tony tony chopper wrote:the issue was a marketing guy who started talking about something he's clueless about, but something that makes sense in the strange world of marketing where everything that seems to be usable as an advantage, will be used, without thinking too far aheadIt's the misperception of marketing that's the real issue.
Talking about marketing, hasn't Dr Drum made the news here yet?
It's the crap DubTurbo guys at it again:
now THAT is the fugly side of marketing. It's all there, paid views, filtered comments, youtube spamming, porn-like website.. (& as for the marketing lies, it's a good laugh on the website)
The only thing they can't lock are the "don't like", so use your power

I have some kind of hardware conflict in Studio One with my midi keyboard and Komplete Audio whereas Cubase 5LE works fine in this area. I'd considered Cubase 6 elements but I noticed that Cubase is 32bit float whereas Studio One is 64bit.
What practical difference does this make? Couldn't this contribute to a better sound if the processing is more accurate? Any developers got some in-sight?

IIRC,
the noise floor is lower,
so if u accidentally recorded too low, then normalized,
it a great power less noise with the 64-bit.

When I read the topic off this thread I thought:
Then I read the content of this thread and decided that the best policy on this matter is simply:
And besides at the end of the day: A FACT! *Unless due to medical reasons You came out via a C-Section*
Its ridiculous bullshit, I find the frequency of how often this bullshine arises quite frankly astounding! Still I could not damned well help myself from reading, Worse still damned well posting though! So A bloody fine one to talk. I curse Myself as a complete Idiot EVERYTIME and currently FWIW I am doing just that...AGAIN
+ Its the daft swine that agrees with the Presonus employee's blog post which is the most worrying and to quote a tennis legend "You Can NOT be Serious?" reaction.
However Pough, EvilDragon amongst others set things straight
...And I think to Myself What a wonderful (virtual) world

Thanks, well if they don't sort out this problem I may have to jump ship. Its funny how we all take to different DAWs, Cubase was the first one I really learned and I have kept an eye on it for years and nearly bought it a few times. It looks good at the moment and gives a lot more options than s1.nix808 wrote:IIRC,

FL Studio is faster than time. Thanks to.. I wrote it on a post-it but I lost itWho knows... maybe a host can be more performant than another with realtime processing? (push in this direction HiHi)
Yes, you actually WIN CPU by processing in FL. Deep Blue was actually just a ZX Spectrum running several FLs daisy-chained.
