Hm me thinks, why would a happy employee move away and create a direct competing product? They must be pissed off due to management, internal discrepancies or politics, personalities, etc.. This situation is bad for Ableton, good for customers. Everyone needs to get their act together. Let's see first if the bitwigs can deliver and how much of a threat they are - because so far they are none

Why does anyone start a business that revolves around the field they specialise in? More money, more control, better working hours, they believe they can deliver a better product? These arent fresh from the cabbage patch devs. They have previous independent experience of coding, selling and distributing software.
Ableton Live is now one of the most popular DAWs, its going to take more than Bitwig v1.0 to put them out of business. Id dbe hapy for Bitwif if they did though!
Speculation based on thin air ie the contents of your head

To be clear: you are 100% correct. If you were Ableton, wouldn't you make sure you treat your employees right so they don't go wander off doing their thing? I'm speculating (because of impatience LOL) what could have caused for this to happen.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Speculation based on thin air ie the contents of your head
No financial security, No income, Working on a product that (might) take off, needs advertising, deals with hardware manufacturers, admin staff, payroll, contracts.. sure sounds like funVariKusBrainZ wrote:...control, better working hours, they believe they can deliver a better product? You know, some people do find much of that fun. The parts they don't find fun they can hire out.dalor wrote:VariKusBrainZ wrote:No financial security, No income, Working on a product that (might) take off, needs advertising, deals with hardware manufacturers, admin staff, payroll, contracts.. sure sounds like funVariKusBrainZ wrote:...control, better working hours, they believe they can deliver a better product? These things can start off as fun but to make it into a fulltime living and business is another thing. I wish them all the best and if its as good as advertised I'm the first to buy. I
Surge VSTi because its so damn easy and clever designed - knowing that the same guy (Claes) is one of the lead programmers makes me believe it *will* kick ass. They should just hurry up to make threads like these obsolete!!

Anytime I visit this thread I have to scroll up after about 5 seconds to remind myself what it's about.
Oh yeah Bitwig, hows that coming along then?
Nothing?
OK, thanks bye.
