Prosoniq has a poll of going: How much would you donate if we were crowdfunding Windows/Mac VST development?

I wouldn't waste my time because even if they did go Windows again who's to say they won't drop it like they did last time? Some of their FX seem interesting if very expensive but their marketing strategy over the years has put me right off. But these are desperate times and perhaps the MAC market isn't as profitable as it once was now that tablets are growing more popular. The latest Win 8 release opens up both the desktop and the mobile market which has probably tweaked their interest. A sort of fairweather response perhaps?

i just tried the AU demo for morph and had some fun but after i quit logic all my core audio settings were wonky and i had no audio at the outputs.. had to reset my audio/midi set up to get things back to normal...

based on that i'd say they should dedicate all their resources to their mac products since it seems they need the attention

and honestly.. morph is kinda lack luster and overpriced imo

I think there's a general shortage of goodwill towards them because they dropped their windows products.

That said, I actually might be considering this as they really made some very interesting products. Morph, Northpole, Piwarp and RayVerb are still outstanding and working fine even these days.

You have guys living in their Mum's basements creating all manner of excellent, cutting-edge instruments and effects. Then they take them and upload, then make mention of their proud new creation here, and more and more they are sending it out as freeware. A few who really seem to need the funds may post it at some token amount, $5EU, $9.50 USD, etc., or they might mention in a good location on their site that they do accept donations and gratitudes. But I never see any of them running around with this week's grand idea, begging for dollars. Nope.

If the rights aren't all locked up by some stinking corp. and somebody wants to bring a synth back bad enough, then let 'em go at it. But Prosoniq? I don't know you guys from Adam, and back in whatever heyday you might have had, I doubt you would have given me the time of day. Now I guess the tables are somewhat turned, aren't they? Fallen on hard times?

A DEAL is where you offer quid pro quo, something for something. This right here is just begging without a real plan, to fund a hobby you may or may not follow through on. Doesn't look like a smart investment . . . Sorry, chaps. Last scheme I read here, the guy wanted to give a commercial softsynth to every 'disadvantaged' urban teen who might be liable to crack somebody's software -- you know, to keep them from cracking any more NI software. Dumbest thing I ever heard, considering I have pro friends who can't afford their own decent gear these days.

I'm just very NOT into these grand ideas, especially when you intend to throw my money at it. Have you tried selling any of your gold jewelry or pawned a synth to raise your own cash?

a few years ago,i bought the windows version of piwarp vst,and the zip installer was so out of date it wouldn't open on my computer,winXP.and when i got in touch,they couldn't even give me an unzipped version that worked,i had to search the net for a 16 bit work-around,quite annoying when you give your cash and it won't even install.the guy i talked to seemed to not know how it was all compiled.just a sales team i guess.
good luck to them but they'll need to work on the pr.

Prosoniq lost my trust when they ditched Windows.I have bought and happily used Orange Vocoder then they said they go Mac only.So they forced me to invest in something else..Now they change their minds again and want me to donate???

I would consider offering some money just for the fact that I loved Northpole a lot. As a sign of appreciation. What I didn't appreciate was them dropping all their Windows products.

Stephan is a very talented programmer, but Prosoniq always suffered from bad management. Now, back to his post: Why should he need money to relaunch for Windows something that already existed in Windows before (Orange Vocoder)? Did he made so many changes to the code that it needs to be rewritten? And does it mean so much of an effort to port something that already exists in an Intel platform to another Intel platoform?
Sorry, but this seems pathetic. If he was mentioning sonicWORX, I would understand the issue, but Orange Vocoder? Come on...
