Now I remember why I stopped using Buzz. Thanks!!! ;)
+1
I've used it for about 3-4 years ... finally gave up due to exactly THIS

Well,
buzz gave me 1 error (feedback on a reverb) in 2 years using it live, it happened in the middle of an experimentation song and as it was overloading I stoped buzz and faded volume slowly of that saturated & freezed reverb.

Just take away some buggy machines, or keep only usable ones.

I've updated the BuzzFXVst .zip to contain more useful instructions and the buzz effect .dlls that have worked stably for me for a few years now:

updated link https://app.box.com/s/61j4ackkkuelxmss1dadhdbg2hbrkayn

The following steps worked for me great with Win7 and Ableton 8.4:

1. Install Buzz in it's default folder(and .net 4). Run buzz once.

2. Copy the included dsplib.dll into the same folder as your DAW's main .exe

3. Copy the vst BuzzFXVst.dll into your vst folder.

4. Open your DAW and scan your plugs folder and this should show up, asking you if you want to use the default buzz gear folder. Say OK. At this point the BuzzFXVst.dll will create a BuzzVst.ini in your windows folder that contains the path to the buzz gear folder. In ableton, if the plugin doesn't show up after your initial scan, you can rename it (i.e. BuzzFXVst1.dll) then rescan your plugs folder in ableton. It should show up then. Then you can rename it back and rescan the folder.

5. Run Lee Dragon's Mono-Stereo patch to get stereo versions. Note: in ableton for these stereo ones to work, you have to set the plugin buffer to 32 or 64(Preferences->CPU). Also for ableton I recommend you turn off "Auto-open plugin custom editor" (Preferences->Look feel).

Tip - the scroll window for the buzz .dll's with this is super short. I just rename my favorite buzz .dll's to have a !- prefix at the front so those show up at the top of the index with this wrapper(do this before running the stereo wrapper). Or you can just type the letters of your fav dev into the scroll window :].

Note: Don't open 2 windows from 2 different instances of this plugin at the same time - it will surely crash your DAW! Also sadly this wrapper doesn't allow automation but still it's cool to have buzz plugins working in Ableton or Cubase. Before I've had over 300 instances of this plugin going on in one project with no problems(except my laptop running hot!). I just learned which buzz plugins cause crashes; many don't - obviously don't use the crashy ones(I've included a bunch in my .zip above that work for me). Follow the tips outlined in the instructions and you should have a decent time with this wrapper.

Also I recommend using this wrapper with Ableton because Ableton happens to have one of the best crash recovery systems I've seen- letting you pick back up within a few steps of where you left off before the crash. A few tips for using this wrapper in Ableton: freeze down your tracks containing buzz effects chains every so often(and save new versions of the project to keep the old chains in tact if you want). Before archiving your projects, mix down any buzz effects and remove the effect's instance from your project. That way you don't have to worry about having weird crashes or incompatibility problems when opening your archived projects up in the future.

Good luck, have fun, make lots of weird music!

P.s. I wish somebody would create a more stable version of this wrapper so all the buzz plugin developers' hard work from years past could be more appreciated and utilized allowing the unique sonic flavor of buzz effects/generators to influence tomorrows music.

So what are these buzz generation vsts used for and doesn't FL studio contain one?

These let you use buzz's effect dll's directly inside ableton without flstudo. sure you can use buzz effects in flstudio too but really, who uses flstudio any more? JK - if you want to use buzz's "generators"(they're like vsti's, fyi), I recommend using the FLstudio vsti plugin in ableton, then load buzz's generators inside the flstudio vsti - works way better than using the "BuzzGenVst.dll" (which is also included in my .zip above).

Zombie thread ho! does anyone actually still have this little guy?

p.s. i recommend jbridge for getting the darn thing to work in x64.. sadly the params don't show up regardless tho. the work around there is to load the jbridged x64 buzzfxvst.dll inside the mux modular vst host, then map the params in mux (a great plugin btw!) ... and voila! param's show up and are automatable in ableton. doesn't get any easier folks :dog: for those stalwart souls who can actually get this to work*, happy "buzzing" :hihi: !

WoW! Thanks! Eager to try this out. Much buzz is irreplaceable.

..this works in 32 bit FL, but can't be bridged in 64. Thanks again!

ooh! maybe I should try this

I wonder what I want in here

Hehe I also coded a buzz 2 vst wrapper years ago for private use, never released to public. It's realized as shell plugin. It also runs machines that need access to wavetable such as matilde tracker. I doubt oskari allows this wrapper(have to ask oskari if he allows this however sometime). It also shows the vst parameters in your host, so no jbridge workaround with mux modular is necessary.
