I could believe that Theo, but I gave up on Waves long ago. They just cost me too much money and now I can't use the plug-ins cause I can't get ilock installed again.

ilock had crashed on my system and even support gave up on me trying to get it to work.

Needless to say, bad taste in my mouth for ilock and Waves.

Happy Musiking!

Just reviewed the comparison. Studio is a better option except a few things:
1. Only 2 pro-channel modules (these are worth it so decide carefully)
2. QuadCurve EQ Zoom option is not available (Smart decision to drive people towards producer ;-)
3. Addictive Drums, Loung Lizard Session, Strum Session, Dimension and Rapture full, Breverb, BiFilter are missing
4. All BlueTube effects are available including BlueVerb (Does anyone have any experience? Are they any good?)
5. PC-64, VX-64, Tl-64 and TS-64 are missing

I am really glad to see they kept core functionality intact between studio and producer at least. Studio is not like a half assed LE version. IMHO, that should be the case. If someone has enough plugins (I am sure most will, otherwise MP would be dead, haha.) then studio will be a good choice. IF AND ONLY IF THE DAW CORE FUNCTIONS ARE STABLE.

Not according to the compare sheet:

Better verify I'm right - but I believe I read it in a post as well.

I think the deal is that they ship it with prochannel but with very few plugs. So you'll have to purchase those later.

I think that was a big part of it, but it seems that it probably had as much or more to do with the Melodyne ARA integration.

You are right but there are options. If you look at the comparison carefully, Studio's prochannel is not locked like essential. I noticed they are not using the term "Esstential" anymore, but I will, just for the sake of discussion. So in a nutshell, studio PC is expandable but yes you will have to buy those modules separately. So, at the end the cost would be same. But as I mentioned above those PC modules are top quality and it's great to have it in the channel strip itself.

Another point to remember while upgrading is QuadCurve Zoom function is available in producer only :-(
I am sure everyone has a good eq but again the point is keeping everything Inside the box and value for money.

Anyway, best way to avoid spending any money at all is to stop visiting all Sonar related threads.. lol and wait couple of months to get some discounts. $150 doesn't look good in comparison to the features.

That one might change my eq preferences and habits...

If I sell my Pro-Q, I think I will be able to get half of the upgrade money. But is it worth it? Is it gonna be stable? Is it going to be faithful like it was until X1D? Nahh..
the CPU usage report is yet to come in, lets see how it behaves. I would give credit to them for excellent coding in distributing the task across all the cores. No wonder they put those VU meter on top right corner to show it off. Lets wait and watch and keep the wallet away for some time :-)

Too late. For once I'm an early adopter. Already downloaded and on my way to install...

Everything's working fine here so far. I was a little worried that the Melodyne installation might give me some headaches, since I already have Melodyne Editor installed, but the installer detected the better version, updated it to VST3, and works perfectly so far. Haven't dug deep into X3 yet, but my initial impression is very positive.
