two suggestions that came to mind just now:
- make effects (delay, reverb, chorus) available in the main module area, not just in the out.
- ?? perhaps submenus for modules i.e. vco > vco1/2/3/4/, fmo > fmo1/2/3/4, etc. ?? this one's more of a personal thing, not sure how many others would jump on this but i'd like to have a smaller drop-down list when searching through the various modules.

Urs, can you tell us anything about the Z3 preset browser? I just got Z2 (late to the party, I know) and with thousands of presets, a tagging/starring system like Omnisphere (with search function) would be the bare minimum, IMO. I sincerely believe Z3 will be (one of) the next big thing in VST world and that will show in the amount of patches available.
I would like to organize sounds in categories by type (pads, leads, etc) but also by the application I have in mind for a certain sound (usable in horror film score, in context of rock band, ambient, maybe all those). In Omnisphere I use the Projects feature a lot.
If you're going to keep the favorites/junk categorization, I would love to see all my favorites in one list (i.e. no subfolders).

I'm missing tagging as well. I just wonder who will tag all the patches already created for Zeebs, there are thousands of them...

That's going to be a bitch, having 8000+ patches myself...

As Urs said earlier, Z3 and Z2 patches probably won't be compatible. Still, if Z3 will be anything like Z2 has been, we WILL end up having several thousands of patches in our Z3 folder. So organizing them becomes very important.
I wouldn't mind getting a patch browser update on Z2 at some point but please let Z3 be the priority!

I think plain search function (in patch names and info) would be enough for Z2.gravehill wrote:I wouldn't mind getting a patch browser update on Z2 at some point but please let Z3 be the priority!

Okay, my dumb question is;
Since you say Zeb3 will not be backwards compatible to Zeb2, does that mean when I get it I will effectively have three Zebras? (2/3/HZ) Or will it kill one off to thin the herd?

Yes, but Zebra2 isn't suddenly going to stop working, but will be supported for a long time to come, if history is any guide.EvilDragon wrote:That's going to be a bitch, having 8000+ patches myself...
So you're pretty safe with that investment!

True. Would still be nice to have tag based browsing in Z2, not just Z3 (if it's going to be in Z3)...

I remember a post about Clemens implementing a virtual file system in the distant, not-too-distant past ... If I can pester anyone in the know, did that get anywhere? Seemed like a brave and strong step towards some preset organization, amongst other things.

We're also going to try and have a "Zebra2 preset player" embedded in Z3. So that, if people decide to have just one Zebra they can go with Z3.

A preset player with some option for tweaking FX at least, mabye?Urs wrote:We're also going to try and have a "Zebra2 preset player" embedded in Z3. So that, if people decide to have just one Zebra they can go with Z3.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!
