i have no problem to use instances of zebra2 along with zebra3, at least i can edit in depth. the problem with an embedded presetplayer in zebra3 is that for edit you must open zebra2 then anyway, sure a benefit depends on the way how somebody work i think..

The idea is, if Zebra3 is going to be as great as we think it will, anyone will need Zebra2 solely for backwards compatibility, i.e. to open projects/songs made with Zebra2.
For new sounds people will prefer Zebra3. I'm very certain about that...

Well, what about CPU-load?Urs wrote:The idea is, if Zebra3 is going to be as great as we think it will, anyone will need Zebra2 solely for backwards compatibility, i.e. to open projects/songs made with Zebra2.

There are already Zebra2 sounds (e.g. from the "Zebra Orchestra" library) that (sent on a bus with satin on it) max out one of my cores when i play just 2 notes... (on a 2GHz i7)

As long as the key modules have not been developed, I won't be able to estimate the CPU usage.Arrested Developer wrote:Well, what about CPU-load?Urs wrote:The idea is, if Zebra3 is going to be as great as we think it will, anyone will need Zebra2 solely for backwards compatibility, i.e. to open projects/songs made with Zebra2.

At the moment we're working on a finals et of bugfixes for Satin and AAX. Then Diva and Bazille. The maybe - if all goes well - we either start Zebra3 development, or maybe we release my little weekend project inbetween.
OTOH we did a lot of experiments. Utra-fast stacked wavetable oscillators suited for Z3, morphing of very efficient parallel filter banks. That kind of stuff.
The main work on Z3 has however been conceptual. We pretty much *know* what we want to do.

Hmmm, dunno... sampling is still not our cup of tea. We will however add plenty of means for "destruction".Vertti wrote:I'd love to see some kind of Legacy mode which could emulate 80s digital samplers like Fairlight, Emulator I/II/III, D50 etc.

Z3 will be worth a long long wait.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Thanks for the reply...Urs wrote: As long as the key modules have not been developed, I won't be able to estimate the CPU usage.
In any case, i think multithreading would be a great feature...
While Diva with multithreading never makes problems on my computer (CPU-wise), ACE and Zebra do, allthough they are "older"...

No sampling but kinda synth profiles which imitate the grittyness and aliasing of older machines.Urs wrote:Hmmm, dunno... sampling is still not our cup of tea. How about something along the lines of an updated/integrated BlueberryThing or Wav2Zebra?Urs wrote:Hmmm, dunno... sampling is still not our cup of tea.
It's not out-and-out sampling, but it would allow something approximating D-50 style synthesis.
And a painless method of importing single cycle waves, or sets thereof, to Zebra would be very useful.

Apart from sampling, what about resynthesis, ...one kind or another ?Urs wrote:Hmmm, dunno... sampling is still not our cup of tea. I dont know if this has been said earlier in the thread, but please, please, please, PLEASE, PLEASE add a full blown patch browser ala Omnisphere or Alchemy, complete with tags, rating system (1-5 stars seems standard), SEARCH (especially by type of sound or genre) multiple locations, any anything else you find useful. Please?
edit: looks like it has been mentioned. Hopefully our wish comes true as I was completely put off by the way the current preset system works.
