So, will you go for a close look to the hardware OB-X?

Too much like the hardware and you might get in trouble...with Sonic Projects! 8)

I would get rid of the stupid keyboard and use something similar to the main panel for the GUI. Who needs a stupid keyboard to pick the keys with the mouse? It's not 2002 any more.

Trouble? Where? Who? I wouldn't pay any attention. On KVR everybody points to some "trouble". Good Christians. Well I say to stuff it where it belongs. It's not trouble until it is trouble, if you know what I mean. I don't think this project will get Oberheim's attention. It's "just a soft synth" you know?

A damn good one. :D [and not so up to specs, but good enough for me]

Now I'm going to make my banana jam stuffed pancakes.

shoot this synth will probably help increase sales for their OPXpro II so I doubt they care one bit. When people try obxd they will start to wonder about OPX proII and start planning on getting it as well. Plus all the drama as people argue about the 2 is just free advertising for them that leads more people to try their synth and then that will lead to more sales as well so if I were them I would be glad to see this kind of activity happening from a PR perspective.

Why you should buy a paid version of same emulation when you have free version?
Well op-x pro ii offer more functions, but sound different. Better or not? To your taste.

depends on how many presets you guys port over from opx pro II. The OPX pro has a lot of famous presets that sound like the sounds actually used in famous songs. If you can match them on all their presets, then there is no reason but if not then people will want it just for that reason alone. The thing is most do use presets and do not have the time to toy around trying to figure out how to make their own. Some love to design presets and the more you do it the better you get but some of us would rather find a sound and use it than tweak for hours. I think there are many hundreds of presets on their site that you can download free perhaps a sysex tool for translating and or reading the settings and listing the important common parameters would be cool to develop if there is not one already. If there is guys do tell.

Oberheim first became Oberheim ECC around '85, and at that time Tom Oberheim left to found Marion Systems.

Then around 1987 Oberheim was acquired by Gibson, and for example the Matrix 1000 series were released during these Gibson years iirc, and also the OB-mx, with a certain Don Buchla .... Also the prommer and a lot of innovative material like the Strummer, a collaboration with Viscount. Then Viscount took the brand name to release its Ob-12, and the OB3, a nice Hammond italian clone, with a few pluses.

Also a certain Tom Oberheim is still here and now manufacturing his own modules, wich are very close from SEM modules. And soon ( well we hope so at least) the Son of 4 voice ....... http://www.tomoberheim.com/

So here are the people who imo have the right to use Oberheim's name, and Oberheim synth designs.

In case you don't have a name, yet, how about OBeliX :D
It is easier to remember than yet another letter code, and Obelix stands for fatness and power, in case you know that cartoon :D
