I want to make sure I'm reading the first post right and also to see if this still applies...
but I own Zebra 2.
If I buy the Dark Zebra expansion, I will get Zebra 3 also when it comes out?
i don't see any mention of this on your Dark Zebra page.
thanx

Yep, once - and if ever - Zebra3 comes out, anyone with Z2 + TDZ gets a free update.99trinka wrote:If I buy the Dark Zebra expansion, I will get Zebra 3 also when it comes out?

We did not mention that because we have not officially announced Zebra3. I say "if ever" because we haven't the slightest clue when this will happen.
This thread came about when some rumours surfaced, and yes-we were-doing-some-designs, but it is a long way to go. The purpose of this thread is to assure people that Zebra2 is still a great investment, it won't be "lost money" once Zebra3 shapes up and no-there's-no-reason-to-wait
That said, we have phantastic plans for Zebra3 which we are not going to share just yet. Where Zebra2 has a relatively unrivaled concept of workflow and modularity, our plans for Zebra3 go another quantum leap further. This is a very ambitious project, and we're starting to set up our resources and infrastructure for it. Before that however, we have to release as much of our backlog as possible.

I'll put money down Urs is wrong about that: Z3 will be far more than a quantum improvement over Z2!
(Sorry, physics geek humor).

Yep, this is no surprise. Zebra2 is an attempt to cut through all hundreds of vst synths and offer something truly comprehensive. Zebra3 is going to push this even further. It will be a one-stop-shop for all things "synthesis." There's not any synthesizer that is as ambitious as Z3. It's going to be the next generation workhorse synth that does just about everything. No marketing hype, no bloat, no feature skimping, great preset management and parameter control setup. FM, AM, PM, Wavetable, Additive, Subtractive, Analog, Supersaw...Urs wrote:That said, we have phantastic plans for Zebra3 which we are not going to share just yet...This is a very ambitious project, and we're starting to set up our resources and infrastructure for it.
This is what I gather reading between the lines.

Well, this is actually a great idea, but it wouldn't be just Howard.dsan@mail.com wrote:You forgot to add:

Analyzing the success of succesfull synths and the statistics that 95% of users use presets (mainly stock), and famous artists too (because of the time lacking) it would be a great idea to add various folders of presets made by talented sounddesigners. For example, there has to be folder "EDM" with presets, for example, by Adam Szabo, Serhiy Klimenko, Aiyn Zahev (they show a good craft with Z2) and maybe those who avoided Zebra before (Vengeance?); folder "Orchestral/Cinematic" with Howard Scarr, Corin Neff of course, and other folders for other genres. I think that it is better to divide by genres than just by the types of sound. There can be troubles where to plug in Joseph Hollo though...
Of course, it can greatly swell Z3's cost value, but can attract much more customers from various genres.

Sean from Autechre posted on a forum that he likes Zebra some days ago.
I'd really, really love to hear how the stuff he made with it sounds like!
I don't think Zebra ever ended up on one of their records, it would be cool to hear what they did with it nontheless!
Most of the U-He communtiy seems to be into vintage and EDM stuff, but I think it's definitely worth exploring the more experimental side of it too!
Cheers

Hello
I love Zebra, but i'd like to suggest two things :
- can you make the UI larger ? I know i can make it bigger but it's useless on my 13" laptop...
- maybe the knobs below the patching matrix (pan, mod, vol, mod) could be downsized to make the matrix above it bigger ? Maybe transform these knobs into a separate matrix with simple numerical values (like the FM8 matrix or the RME totalmix matrix view)
cheers

The UI can be made tiny, small, large or even cinematic, just select the GUI size you want!flurp wrote:Hello
