Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Yes, we're heading into that time of year and the builds are coming fast and furious. Pretty soon I won't just be using a "digital flipbook" created with Photoshop here on my system! The knobs even turn, this level of software simulation of software is incredible! On a serious note, it really is great and thankfully moving along at a great pace with far fewer hiccups than in the past. I look forward to the day it is out.

I know there have been some questions about resource usage recently, we'll have a better idea soon but I don't want to err on either side of the fence there using even the most current build so hang tight on those questions.
Thank you for the info Peter.I am very excited about ST3. ST2 sounds great anyway so this will be a solid upgrade for me. 8)

social media is full of tools that distract us from a given task.

Mid-year!!! :) That we know, rescheduling would be end of a year to be be named later. Or the "year that shall not be named" (SampleMort or Voldetank)

*crickets* for the terrible jokes above (don't blame you!)

Here's a little "Juniper Pad" for you today, sampled from a synth known for its lush pads and giving added control via SampleTank 3's macros:

Peter are there any changes to the stretch mode? Will it be easier to create our
own waveforms in st3? This was a pita with sample moog.

Is there a Solina ensemble?

I don't know why companies can't release things when I want them, which is immediately.

I don't know why companies release things before they have been tested and debugged properly.

As Sam Cooke once sang:

Don't know much about coding VST's

Don't know when they will be released to me

Don't know much about writing a catchy hook

Don't know much about the recording engineering classes I took

But I do know that I love recording tunes

And I know that if you would record them too

What a wonderful thread this would be

While I am not aware of major changes to Stretch mode (I've imported some basic sounds far more easily and they still sound great when Stretch is used as intended), creating ST3 instruments from user samples is a lot easier in SampleTank 3, especially because there are no parent-child relationships now. We just have "instruments." So you can import your samples as a new instrument and continue to edit that instrument.

Here's a shot from yesterday - This synth looks familiar - another "Juniper" pad? Of course, since they are so lush and sound fantastic:

Thanks Peter, Does ST3 multiple oscillators per instrument?
It would be cool if we could stack3 sawtooth waves and get that 3 osc mini moog sound.

^^^^
? ST3 is a sample player, not a synth. But, perhaps it does come with some raw waveforms.

Also, prompted by a post on the IK Multimedia forum: what mapping is used for the drum kits? - Are they all GM, or are some iMap or something-else?

SampleTank has two LFOs in the edit section which I can grab a shot of soon I'm sure. May be helpful/informative to some but not exactly what is after here.

The drums are GM.

The ability to edit user-created instruments is great news.

Peter, how does the absence of the parent/child relationship affect the import of ST2 instruments with child presets? When creating new instruments based on a user sample import, are those samples copied along with the synth parameters to create the new instrument?

SampleTank 3 has a "tank" file -- like SampleTank 2 -- that contains a set of samples. In SampleTank 2, the child preset referenced both the parent preset and its tank file. In SampleTank 3, all instruments just reference a tank file. So imported parent and child presets both simply appear as regular SampleTank 3 instruments.
