You can use pretty much ANY USB key as your dongle, or most other USB devices the program will recognize, like your USB sound card, USB mouse, etc.

Pretty cool if you ask me.

Would have paid up to ~$60 to upgrade from mkIII.

Nevermind, I don't do dongles of any kind. :dog:

It most certainly does! Peavy is bouncing potential customers at the gate. Smart move.

Just compare with Steinberg, who generously allow upgrades to Groove Agent 4 from G A v. 1!

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Interesting. Some of it is just bleck. Some of it is eye opening. Can't save it looks like.

The disco "bwwwweeeeeeeeeeeep" is interesting :hihi:

Sometimes, it's "wobbly" like there is a limiter or compression threshold that is off. Gotta figure out what to do there.

Nothing is real, until we hear an audio clip ;) :hihi:

yep, i too noticed some sort of limiting going on.

my impressions so far - i likely won't get the full pack. i don't care much for the high gain amps, although the mesa is somewhat disappointing - it's not really that high gain, and all the distortion channels sound kinda samey to me. ditto for the diesel - thin and weak. high gain stuff in Amplitube i like much, much better. can't say anything about the budda and some of the peavey amps, i'll check them out properly later. what did impress me, however, were the orange and the marshalls. those i will likely get through the shop.

ACT - interesting concept, but so far the experience using it has been pretty negative. any pre-chain disables everything completely (in demo mode), so i can't really tell if my guitar sounds like a strat or not. any post-chain is full of distortion and compression, so much that it simply turns any guitar chain into continuous fart. maybe when i get an authorized version it'll be better, but so far it looks like a gimmick.

i know jack shit about schematics, so my "modding" has so far been to change tubes and fool around with random values to see if anything comes out, but it's a lot of fun.

bottom line - they've got a great platform, although the initial offering is somewhat disappointing, at least for me. i'm VERY curious to see what will happen once they release the amp builder and the community will start coming up with amps and stomps.

EDIT: oh, and cabs in Revalver are far more convenient to use than in Amplitube. all that choice ends up being a hindrance in Amplitube, compared to R4.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

The Peavey website will not let me login to authorize R4... very frustrating. To top it off, I just finished paying for it. I normally use Firefox so I tried IE and still no go. :x

Interesting indeed. I like the Amplitube version better there. Not really fair, because one is a JCM900, and the other is a Silver Jubilee, but nonetheless.

So I tried the profiling thing. Wasn't very impressed as I was by the demo. I tried to profile my guitar multiple times, some sounded good, some sounded bad.

It brings me back to the point I always bring up with the Variax. The reason the Variax uses piezos instead of a magnetic pickup is because piezos have a flat, huge broad frequency response. Now, what would you want if you wanted to model pickups and guitar bodies in a modeling guitar? The sound of the strings before it goes through the pickups and body and electronics. what is the closest thing to that? Piezo pickups.

It's why you can't make a humbucker truly sound like a single coil or vice versa, and you especially are going to struggle making a bridge pickup sound like a neck pickup.

I really honor their attempt, but either I'm doing something wrong or it's just not there yet. It's a really smart idea, but for the reasons I've stated above are what will ultimately limit this technology.

I'll try out the amps now. I'm sure those will blow me away.
