i never understand the whole iOS crap, why would i use my ipad for controling? when i could use my mouse, when im anyway in front my computer and could use it.

not to mention you are fairly limited in terms of backing up stuff, when you run something from apple. i went thru this to get a single f**king pdf on my ipad w/o using either itunes or any cloud service, it is simply not possible. and jailbreaking was never was never solution for me.
but we all know that from crapple? do we? yes we do ...
so if the camel stuff ever ends up with crapple, we can forget about having it on windows or on linux(for example).one more timecrapple.
To get pdf's onto your iPad install the kindle app. It's free and you then get an email address where you can email pdf's to yourself, and they appear in the kindle app...
the problem was, the pdf included some sensitive data, so i dont wanted to let run thru any other software, i just wanted to put it by myself on the intern memory of the iPad, but im glad my company came up with a solution and build its own cloud, but well left me 2 years waiting. from that point crapple is just shit.
they try to limit you on everything and when you are control freak like i am, you want to monitor the system, want to have on everything your hands and for that any crapple sucks.
i got iPAD leased from my company, so it was almost free. :tu:

Interesting/painful to watch the marketplace now. Half the people are scrambling to buy, the other half are scrambling to sell. Alchemy market selling price seems to be way down at about $70. Goes to show that software sales are always at least implicitly about further development (and the potential for and promise of that). In that respect, Alchemy is DOA obviously.

It also shows that even a relatively non-intrusive DRM like CA's will hobble your ownership at some point. For now you can only sell to someone with an account, pretty soon you won't be able to sell it at all, unless you don't care about handing out your personal data with your copy. No biggie as long as the company is still around, big deal if it folds.

The way this is playing out I have to say could not be farther from the way I would have expected the guys at Camel Audio to handle such a situation. If only as a matter of courtesy, I would have at least expected an email by now telling me what needs to be done. I frankly can't believe they're just letting the internet rumor mill inform their customers that they're closing down and downloads will not be possible after July. We're talking about their end of the EULA here. It may be legally acceptable to just walk away from it all (under certain circumstances), but it's lousy form.

there are always was to remove the watermark from the presets and you could always give only away the player with it.

i still dont see a point to sell mine? all is working good with my OS and Alchemy and Alchemy also work with Win 8.1 pro, which is still pretty new, so why are people selling it now?
i dont get it ...

Post

The only way to remove your personal info from the presets is to edit each and every one in a text editor.....

It is not a watermark, your information is present in plain text in every single preset...

It's the fav form of Camel's new owners*.

The former-Camel guys are gagged and probably were months ago. Can't just spit out those large bags of money so easily and start communicating with the users who supported you for years.

perception: the stuff reality is made of.

I email stuff to myself all the time. I must admit, I do get sick of the Viagra and cialis offers though...
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

I know, but the irritating thing is it seems they are communicating, to some, and far more than just "back up your stuff". The least would have been an email saying what it says on their website when you log in and something about nothing further can be disclosed at the time. Saying nothing at all and speculating on somebody telling somebody else and then some majority theory developing from speculation fragments of information passed out to the privileged few, that's just saying "f'em, we're done here."

Again, I'm not talking about info on what actually happened (but that would have been nice). What I mean is just an official heads up to their customers that Camel Audio's side of the EULA will end in July and what that means (like back stuff up, how long license transfers will be honored and under what conditions etc.). Yes, we found out a lot of it eventually (from logging in or from people that heard from people who know someone who...), but that's... lousy form.

Then stop emailing them to yourself.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Now that Android is about to get stronger in the Audio realm, maybe Apple feels the need to try to cement it's so far un-rivaled mobile audio/midi base?
Does anybody know if there was an Android port of Alchemy in the works or planned?
Maybe it was too good? ;-)

The Apple acquisition also makes sense in the light of Apple having huge amounts of cash outside of the US that they can't transfer home since it would be very expensive tax wise - so why not just go on a shopping spree abroad?

Interesting times...

Cheers,

Tom

I have a theory.

The real quiet ones here are Spectrasonics.

I think Apple have bought them too, and paid Camel 'shutup and go away' money to remove the main competition from Omnisphere being integrated into Logic.

It's the score dudes that really spend the money on gear, and that's the market they're after.
