No, a company can't realistically do that. US patent law is first to invent not first to file – things like lab notebooks are used as records.
Not any more, its now the first to file, been like that for a couple of years.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

Okay, finished installing soundsets and doing the re-scans of presets to finalize everything....

So, what I wanted to find out. If the installer we are downloading is reliant upon the Camel web servers in any way after July. No, I deleted my entire Alchemy install and wiped all traces of it from my computer, re-booted and then did a clean install with the files I just downloaded from the Camel site.

Installed with computer not connected to the internet. It installed with no problem.

Is my personal information still displayed upon startup and in each and every preset file?

No, only my name and then place holder text is both displayed upon startup and also as plain text in each and every preset file.

However, there are some differences in what gets installed.

Not major ones, but slight. There is no longer an Alchemy.aky key file, though there are key files for my purchased soundsets. And they still hold my personal info - name, address, phone #, IP address, etc...

There are also now .sql files for Alchemy and my purchased soundsets. Not a problem.

In AlchemyConfig, Address Supress=0

So, it works, is less personalized and is the last release of a company that is done with this product and, while not removing the copy protection is at least making it less personalized to each of us.

From the AlchemyLog file:

Compilation Time: 13:31:05 Date: Feb 4 2013
Execution Time: 13:08:16 Date: 01/14/15
Alchemy version: 1.55.0.3368

I wonder what the Compilation Time entry is for someone who has an older install?

Mine was installed about a year ago (Mac AU version):

Compilation Time: 11:50:18 Date: Feb 4 2013
Execution Time: 15:05:25 Date: 01/14/15
Alchemy version: 1.55.0.3366

I downloaded the installers from the Camel support site last week when this all started, but haven't over installed from my current system.

I just wanted to make clear that this was the AlchemyWin-1-55-0.exe installer and not the CamelAudioInstaller.exe which I have dated 7/4/2014 and was the installer/updater Camel tried to get us to use to get presets for CamelSpace and to update everything.

That one connects to the Camel servers and checks your account against your install....

The good news is that now I can go through all of my backups of things and remove some of the older things that are no longer needed....

Thanks for checking that, dnekm. It's obviously a new build so we all should re-download. So glad I got the email. Oh wait.

No problem, someone had to be the guinea pig....

Actually, I am glad I took the day to do that as it answered some questions I had. And it lets me clean out old backups.

I just wonder why they took all of the user content off of the Camel servers in such a hurry....

Before anybody asks his/her data specifically be deleted? Pass it on as per privacy statement, delete what you have and then the answer is "rest assured, we deleted all data. "

Just a theory.

Ooh, missed that. And with a constitutional problem as well.

Is anyone able to restore Alchemy Mobile library purchases? It seems to be gone from the App Store and when I go to Restore it says there's nothing to restore :(
the truth is in there

do we really all have to do an uninstall and re-install? Can't we just download the installers and keep them safe?

If it is working for you and you do not mind your personal info being there, just backup the new files in case you ever have to re-install. I just wanted to see what would happen if I wiped it from my box and then isolated said box from the internet - if everything would install or not.

And it did.

if you want to be sure reinstalling to check everything is a good idea - but if you do just d/l make sure the .camelsound files are intact, they're actually .rar archives so if you point 7zip at them and tell it to 'test' archive you can at least know the downloads are complete/undamaged.
