So there are now a crazy number of demo sounds in the Sound Cloud playlist... I guess this starts to demonstrate the diversity possible?

I'm too sleep deprived to know which ones are cooler than others at this point, so scan through em all if you can. Could be some treasures lower in the list. :D

Almost none of the examples show what we discussed earlier about using KS for delay, granular, verb-like things... that will have to come after NAMM or just watch Simon's excellent videos.

I have to leave for NAMM in a few hours, and will not be overly active here for the next five days or so.

Play nice! :D

We will get any/all various minor issues with hosts etc ironed out in the next week or so. Keep up the feedback, we value your input! :tu:

guys,

we've just found an issue in DEMO version (only in DEMO, FULL version was not affected) of Kaleidoscope Audio Unit.
It affected Logic 9 and probably some other hosts that use old audio unit info format.

here is the corrected version:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzKzm4 ... sp=sharing

1) unzip the file, inside there will be 2C-Kaleidoscope-Demo.component.zip
2) unzip 2C-Kaleidoscope-Demo.component.zip so you will get
2C-Kaleidoscope-Demo.component
3) go to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
4) remove 2C-Kaleidoscope-Demo.component from this folder
5) copy the 2C-Kaleidoscope-Demo.component from the zip into the folder above

it should fix the problem. we will update the setup today later.

Denis (2CAudio)

That's fixed Kaleidoscope showing up as Aether on my system. Cheers.

So after several trys i think it's not usable on my MacBook pro retina. I saw in a post before that there are problems with high cpu spikes on those MacBooks. A shame... i wish i had bought a non retina Macbook now since there seems a lot plugins suffer from this (indeed the same trouble is going on with iOS and the newest iPads...). Maybe time to leave that apple crap since they destroy the whole music platform for me last time.
So is anyone using KS successful on an MacBook pro with retina? Maybe i should switch to windows?
However, the demos sounds very good. Good luck with this product. Sadly i can't use it. But still happy with B2, Aether and Breeze :P

You've definately tried setting the buffers?
I have it running OK on a 2013 Macbook Air with a 1024 buffer. It takes on average 40% of the CPU seems fairly stable. Not doing much else on the Air I should add - it's receiving and sending back an spdif channel.

yes there are strange problems with running Kaleidoscope on MBP with retina display. somehow the GUI output
is slowed down as if GUI subsystem on OSX runs several times slower. connecting non-retina external monitor fixes the problem.
Kaleidoscope just needs to move a lot of graphics data.

But what is strange is that even when i turn of the UI it doesn't change anything. I have sometimes similar trouble with B2 but when i close the UI it works fine. Mmhhh, sad that apple gone such a bad way with their updates and hardware. (There is a lot trouble going on and i don't think that developers can do much here until apple get it right).
Well, enough said. Maybe i should bother apple with their bugs
Thank you again. I hope i can use this great tool in near future since it would be fit perfect in my workflow.

This is an amazing tool. I bought it last night and have been experimenting with it. Congrats to 2C Audio for some really innovative thinking.

I have a question. When I access the image browser or the tuning browser, a huge tantalizing list of possibilities comes up. But if I click on anything the browser closes and nothing changes. I can use the arrows to go to the next item (or previous) in the browser list but that's an extremely tedious way to audition sounds. What am I doing wrong?

Also...is there an INIT patch? I want to do some sound design of my own here.

I have read the manual (or most of it) but it seems geared more towards explaining how resonators work and the theory behind Kaleidoscope etc. rather than how to work the machine. Love this thing but am a little frustrated at the moment. Would love to see a sound design tutorial video for it. Or really ANY kind of hands on tutorial.

Andy- I've seen the same thing and assume that there's just something that I haven't learned yet...however, if you click the browse tab in the upper left side, you will get a directory and you can drill down to what you need. Hope that helps.

Edit: I think I'm wrong. I need to pull it up and look again. Take my prior comment with a grain of salt please.

To be clear: we will be absolutely certain to resolve any issues with retina displays sooner than later. Kaleidoscope is a very visual program obviously, and we are very excited about using it on retina displays and large format monitors such as 4K and 5K and beyond.

I personally can't wait to see KS full screen at 5K! (but now we are getting ahead of ourselves...)

(for the conspiracy theorists: no Apple is not buying us AFAIk... :D )

In the "Sounddesigners" folder probably.
