Nice building track that Kati. I'll have a listen to some more of your SoundCloud stuff.

I've also got Nessus up on SoundCloud but I've been told it's too bassy, possibly because I mix on headphones, so I have to "re-master" that...

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my effort :)

cheers

This doesn't make much sense to me (how many stacked saws do we REALLY need beyond the 16 we already have?).
That particular idea was more about the character of the supersaw. Diva for example has sawtooths in it's different osc's but it also has JP8k supersaw as it's own distinct waveform which sounds rather unique compared to many other supersaws. It sounds very airy and trance-friendly or at least that's how I always saw it :). Hive's saws certainly sound very clean and smooth, hence the idea for a contrasting vintage supersaw like the sorts I was thinking of.

To maybe better explain, here are some different examples :)

^ JP-8000

https://soundcloud.com/equinox-eurobeat/jump
^ JD-990

https://soundcloud.com/equinox-eurobeat ... ing-snow-i
^ Synth1 (Clavia Nord Lead 2)

^ JV-1080

These are all pretty big differences and I don't just mean in style! not all supersaws are definitely alike :).

Of course, there are other ideas. Perhaps one of the features of the morphing tab could be to change the character of waveforms. Change the amount of aliasing, making patches sound more analog or digital etc. That would certainly be more practical! ^^.

I also want to clarify that I meant no offense to Oddvar for his/her tracks! I'm happy to see more modern EDM with Hive (if anything, I was worried for a moment I was hearing more non-EDM examples ^^;). They were working within the limits of what Hive has right now, hence launching into my spree of suggestions that would help in making something that sounds more commonly like Dubstep. That's not to say the track wasn't fun to listen too :).

Try using a spectrum analyzer 4ndy if mixing on headphones is a problem for you ^^. Reference tracks are always a good idea!

Hi Shiek,

I'm embarrassed to say that I had two spectrum analysers  Span and Pro-Q, and I could see all that bass end stuff going on but chose to ignore, just applying a simple bass cut at 50Hz.

thanks :)

This is a great synth even for those that don't like Dance music.

I couldn't agree more :D

The winning aspects of this synth, besides the sounds of course, is its ease of use. I've not even opened the manual yet...

If I could think of one negative, it would be not being able to type in values.

Agree on all points! Don't like EDM, like the usability, would love to be able to type in values (even more so on presswerk or satin!)

But I would urge you to have a look at the manual, there is a nice tips and tricks section at the end.

Thanks so much, I just realized that now I can actually scroll thru the presets directly from my Keylab controller without having to use the mouse or computer keyboard, and then the display on my controller actually says what preset is selected on its LCD display. Very convenient. Thank you for the work you put into it :)

Great synth, once again. I have been through the 10 tut. videos... I would hardly say this is a "simple" synth after watching those ! I was impressed by the amount of details that made into this synth.

Fantastic supersaw pads with HIVE cheers for making it guys and thanks to all that made the presets they sound fantastic ;)

Aiyn Zahev posted a preview of his new Hive sound-set on his soundcloud. My gosh, this should be on the u-he website ♥.

OMG Urs. I remember reading a post of yours which pretty much said "This version is virtually bug free. Just don't browse presets with your pedal down".

I was playing on Hive with Bitwig as host and I didn't realize I had my pedal down while flicking through, all of a sudden sound stopped and I looked up expecting to see Hive crashed, but BITWIG had crashed lol.

Remind me to listen to you more often hahaha. LOVE Hive though (And all U-HE stuff in general.). You guys make some solid vst/i stuff. I'm very happy to be one of your customers. Keep up the fantastic work :)

I'd also like to thank all the preset makers for making a great collection of ready to use patches which utilize lots of expression/control methods. You guys have done an awesome job of making this (imho) the best out-the-box dance softsynth.

Amen to that.....I am always surprised how many companies seem to make patches that dont' seem they expect keyboard players to use.....but for someone like me who uses pitch bend, mod wheel, after touch etc... it is greatly appreciated...
thank you.

Really enjoying Hive, which is my second u-he synthesizer (the other is Bazille). Good purchase, amplified further by Viktor's outstanding customer support. :)
