Exactly, "some of the stuff". But with at least 9/10 entries I feel like I wasted my time listening to it. The vast majority of entries are leagues below classic instrumental gems of the past.

Why wouldn't I judge it? I thought the OSC is all about judging other people's music...Tjgoa wrote:Fluffy, by all means, please volunteer your time, seriouslyMaybe volunteering would be a much better way to spend all those hoursAlso, please don't judge other peoples music or styles in general without being constructive or specific. Otherwise, your input isn't wanted and will cause people to ignore you.
Styles, that is indeed my problem, it is basically a white music board...
Yeah, I have noticed the sheep mentality on KVR before, a bit disturbing to someone like me, frankly.

I thought of it some time ago, but decided not to. To me the OSC is basically a modulation freak show. Many people here are pretty good at technology, but not good at making music in my view.
For the most part I dislike instrumental music, thus my stuff tends to sound boring, like music with the vocals missing because that is what it is supposed to be in my view, background music for the singer. Nor do I like that power sound that most entries seem to have, I like simple, subtle sounds...
Now, if I could come up with something as great as, say, Summer Madness I would take part, anyway. But I am simply not as good a composer/musician. And unlike most people here I am honest enough to admit it, thus I won't even bother wasting people's bandwidth and time...

1) Define "mediocre"fluffy_little_something wrote:Well, I don't really care about OSC anyway the way it is now. How much mediocre instrumental music can anyone take...
2) How much anyone wants. Ppl have the rights to eat Junk Food, drink wine in carton bricks, watch the dumbest reality show ever, as long as eating dishes for 200$ of pure awesome, drink wines for 2000$ the bottle, and only watch the three best movies even made over and over.

3) Based on WHAT you're making your judgement? If you're not a good composer / musician what kind of background does support what you're saying? 'cause you're not saying "i don't like it, but that's just me": this would be a personal, relative evaluation which is totally understandable. Instead you're evaluating how much bandwith is worthy or not, how much OSC partecipant are aware of their own mediocrity and so you're expressing absolute concepts. This means you have an absolute base to which you're comparing us all as composers/musicians/self-aware beings.
You know what? You're showing us that you're stupid to the point that you can't even understand HOW MUCH stupid you are.
This would be hoping for too much. Just delete your account here and go listening what you want without lowering this forum quality with your sub-average posts and mind. Let we spare some bandiwith for somewhat else more worthy than your tastes.fluffy_little_something wrote:Really, if that is what fantastic music is, I might as well take my life...

I find most OSC entries mediocre at best, indeed. That is my opinion and as such it is true, like all opinions. If you don't agree with me, so be it, I couldn't care less.
I have a good taste of music, always had it, and I know it. Just because I can't make good music, doesn't mean I can't tell when other people's music is good, or not for that matter.
KVR and the OSC in particular reflects a rather narrow slice of the world of music, and for the most part I don't like what I hear...
Now go and cuddle your hurt egos, kiddies...

Man, what an arrogant SOB you are. I feel sorry for people like you who are so self righteous and smug because they've lived a few years. Guess what? Your poop smells just as bad as everybody else's. You don't walk on water.fluffy_little_something wrote:I find most OSC entries mediocre at best, indeed. That is my opinion and as such it is true, like all opinions. In short, get over yourself.
And please, do us all a favor and go someplace else.
You're not welcomed here.

Fluffy, I already explained what's the difference between a legitimate opinion and an absolute judgment. Your last post express the former in the first row, the latter in the second one, your third phrase is self-evident, and the fourth is the demonstration that you don't even understand that's your ego, here, which is overabundant. I bet you have an orgasm every time you comb yourself.

My opinion IS my judgement. It is not absolute, though, I am aware that many people like the OSC stuff. But really, does that mean anything? Not to me...Parduz wrote:Fluffy, I already explained what's the difference between a legitimate opinion and an absolute judgment. I won't even comment on the silly rest of your post...

and yet you continally show up here with your boring and irrelevant opinions.fluffy_little_something wrote:I hate the sound of computer music. In fact I dislike it so much that I am tinking of giving it all up myself. Maybe volunteering would be a much better way to spend all those hours
aah, this is where the problem lies. If this is your perspective of OSC you are entirely in error (and the wrong place - why not try x-factor instead?). The OSC is about participation, the challenge to produce and overcome obstacles such as an unruly synth, about having some fun and learning to both judge and improve your own musical contributions. Its a forum where as peers we can share each others interests and experience. If you have nothing positive to contribute here and hate it so much just stay away!fluffy_little_something wrote:I thought the OSC is all about judging other people's music...
so do your posts here!fluffy_little_something wrote:For the most part I dislike instrumental music, thus my stuff tends to sound boring...

Well, maybe I sounded too harsh, I tend to say what I think, which is not very diplomatic sometimes
But don't worry, as soon as I have sold my software, I am gone from this board
