Can anyone confirm this?
0.9.0 works fine.

It might not work since I had to used the latest XCode with my MacBook upgrade and the old OSX SDK didn't worked anymore. But 0.9.1 should work from 10.7 and up.

Sorry, but in terms of backward binary compatibility, Apple is sometimes a pain to work with.... :(

I do understand if developer don't support old OS anymore at some point.

0.9.1 works fine with OS 10.9.5 and Logic 10.2.0

I agree with that point of view.
On the other hand, I never had such a solid work environment before 10.6.8 and LP 9.1.8.
There is no need to change anything.

So I will be happy with a working Dexed version 0.9.0 :)

Thanks a lot for developing such a great plugin! :tu:

I definitely do not update with each OS, and I intend to keep 10.9.5 as long as possible. It's also a very solid system. The only thing you can do, in such a situation, is to hope that developer support your OS and DAW as long as possible.

I try to do a big upgrade every 5-7 years. But in that case I also buy a new computer. I experienced that this is the best way.

OS X 10.9.x is very stable, and it will allow you to run everything for now, and for some time yet. Of course, you would need to have access to an installer, since you can't obtain it from Apple anymore.

But if your Mac is old, maybe it's better to keep it the way it is.

I have a request: please add the "MASTERTUNE" function!
So we can load 8 instances of Dexed, slightly detune each of them (and pan them across the stereo field)...

why not have tabs at the top of dexed for all those instances?
(and multiple audio channel output)

meant to EDIT,.. user error.
Yeah, this is a great idea!
To truly emulate the TX816, each tab would have an audio output and an assignable midi channel...
But, as I understand, Dexed is, for now, primarily meant to be a near perfect DX7 Mark I emulation, and I totally agree with that point of view.

Maybe later, we can have side-projects, Dexed802, Dexed816 etc... :)
But I am not in a hurry, because coding a VST seems to be a lot of work!
I would like to help, but programming... for me it's like trying to launch a space shuttle lol

what are your favorite fx plugins for dexed? if we take for example the well known e.piano1/fulltines, what would you use to quickly chorus and reverb it for a proper 80s sound?

i tried to load presets from the dx7ii. the cart in dexed doesn't even see the .syx files. problem at my side?

For chorus I use the free TAL chorus. It doesn't let you tweak a lot but it sounds great. For reverb you could use any plugin, really...

The TX816 is nothing more than eight DX7 boards in a box. Sure, you would need a kind of "shell" to run eight instances of DeXed, and individual outs (although I personally would not mind to have them mixed into a single stereo out, for example). But I agree that's a side project, even if not a very hard one to accomplish (this, said by someone who only knows some rudiments in programming)

Hi!

I'm just reposting a request that I originally wrote in the Dexed comments section here on KVR:

Hi.
This plug-in is fantastic! Excellent sounding alternative to my dx7ii-fd when out of the studio, and for auditioning sounds.
I have a small request for the cart manager. Is it possible to display the name and location of the currently loaded SysEx file? I sometimes need to find out where I found a specific patch after I have closed and reopened the project, but the file-tree resets to the default location. If the "currently loaded cart" section displayed name and location it would be much easier to find the sound.

I also have a request regarding the setup of keyboard scaling and break points.
The Yamaha DX shows the breakpoint as the actual note, from A-1 to C8, but Dexed shows a scale of 0-99.
Also the DX defaults to a break point at A-1, the lowest possible note the DX can play, whereas Dexed defaults to 39, which is somewhere in the middle of the scale.
Especially when programming DX patches from patch sheets into Dexed, it would be very useful to see the actual note when choosing breakpoint.

Oh this... yes Dexed shows the program value and not the actual note; it will be addressed in the next version.

Can we have a mode where Dexed automatically echoes all internal parameter changes for all Operators out to the DX7 without the need to manually transmit?

Also being able to MIDI THRU echo notes to play the DX7 from Dexed was removed?

There should be a toggle switch on the Main GUI and on the Secondary GUI to play either the internal Dexed sound engine, the DX7 Midi Port or trigger both simultaneously.
