In an attempt to divert the kvetching about Arturia in "u-he's rePro" thread I thought it might deserve it's own thread instead.

So, let me hear about your beefs about Arturia's existence...:hihi:

i have all the vst synth , microbrute and a SparkLE from arturia , I am happy with all , the only thing i wish is to be able to resize the gui

Arturia: Are they that bad?
No. :)

Post

Yeah... oooh, that poncy "TAE" label really, uh, sucks. Man, does that ever bother me.

Post

+ Arturia replaced 7 licenses when my Syncrosoft dongle failed. The only question was, "where shall we send your new activation codes"?

- Arturia's online hardware registration can be a challenge.
And the beat goes on...

Yep, as soon as they make resizable gui for Microbrute I'll buy it :)
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

No. SEM V, Matrix, and Microbrute are stellar imho.

They were also very supportive when my preset bank for the SEMV had compatibility problems with an updated version.

The hardware registration issue does it with me sometimes as well.

My beef with Arturia

I bought their Analog Laboratory keyboard back in 2012, turns out it never was fully integrated as a hybrid with the software as advertised, and instead of fixing the software they made a new product called Analog Lab, which old user didn't get.

Just a couple of months after buying that keyboard, they suddenly went "crazy" and gave away 3 (or was it more) free VSTi's with every purchase of it, while not really offering anything like that to older customers who already had bought into the deal

I don't think they're horrible, but from what I can tell they just seem stagnant in software development. They had some pretty decent emulations but I think they had the idea that they were done and moved on. Today you need a bit more than an endorsement to compete. Now they're doing hardware which gets mixed reviews. I wasn't a huge fan of the Minibrute. Seemed like a decent synth but "Metalizer" and other tricks just sounded kind of ugly. Matrixbrute seems like it might be a great synth, but it's too early to tell.

I think they need to offer new versions of all their software (maybe not Matrix12v) that have recoded filters, totally redone UIs. Some older Arturia fans will complain about CPU use, but it's time to push things a bit. As long as they offer draft modes it should be fine.

Perhaps Arturia panicked when it realized the product wasn't moving, and overlooked the 8 of us who bought in.

True, would be cool if they would keep going in the software department. Looks like stagnation to me too, because other companies/devs surely set the bar higher regarding analog emulation. Maybe time for TAE v2. ;)

The products are good value for money, nevertheless they seem to cut corners everywhere. A lot of hardware products seem unfinished upon release: origin, spark, beatstep...

It is sad, they have had such great ideas over the last years: spark seems awesome, minibrute is good value, beatstep is unbeatable at that price. if they invested mroe in quality control I think they would be very very succesfull.

I am very interested in the matrixbrute, if the build quality is there and it hasn't missing features on release I might get it. But I hope they don't rush it. The designer was questioned at NAMM about quality issues and expectations and he said they were aware of that issue, already changed manufacturer and, I have not found the quote, that they will make it in France. So I have big hopes for this.
