No beef with them here after owning their synths for quite awhile. Everyone mentions the GUI. As monitor resolution becomes finer so does the need for resizing GUIs.

This is not OT, but hopefully no one really runs with it... devs should take a cue from Image-Line. Though I do not particularly like or use FL Studio (though I own it) they have really upped the game with the latest version. There is more to be done for sure, and they are working on GUIs for all of their plugs. I would love to see Arturia adopt a similar styling as Image-Line has done.

But then again, I can name a number of synth devs that would benefit from this.

PS- I love the sound of Arturia's VST.

Yeah, kind of a general problem these days. To make money, companies release new stuff frequently, while the old stuff doesn't get the love it should receive. You can see that almost everywhere.

They've already said that they are working on overhauled, larger, resizable guis for their instruments, likely in the later part of this year.

I have actually tried using the magnifyer glass built into Windows, but it doesn't quite get the job done... so here's hoping they get some new GUIs done during 2016!

Back to the original question, a few years back Arturia really seemed stuck in a rut software-wise, and I kind of expected them to phase out ALL the software stuff -- abysmal support and no new products. But ever since the Jupiter 8 V and the SEM V things have really improved. The new modelling stuff like the Wurly and the Vox is fantastic.

And quite a lot of the time, the earlier stuff (GUIs aside) also seem to find a way in my work. So, credit where credit's due!

Synths are find sound wise. GUIs are mostly too small with a few exceptions. Problem is, we were told in late 2014 that the GUIs would be redone. Still nothing. I'll bet it won't be until 2017, if ever, that we see larger GUIs for the V collection.

That is my one and only problem with Arturia in a nutshell.

You can maybe hook up a second screen to your computer, and on the second screen you can set the resolution lower, so the GUI gets bigger.

This way older screens can be useful still

I think that they're ok. Not bad, but not good either. Their older synths need not only a GUI overhaul, but some advance on their modelling too. It would be good if we could see more transparency, maybe a little post from them saying in which state the development of the new GUIs is going on, if they're going to refine their models... The support answered my questions about license transfer and payment very quickly, but when I asked if they were thinking about adding duophony on ARP 2600, they just closed the ticket.

I remember having quite a lot of fun with the SEM demo back when it was released. And with their Minimoog V demo when i demo'd that. But i also remember being quite disapointed after having tried lots of other synths, and then getting back to the free Minimoog Original they gave away for one day. Guess it's all a matter of perspective, and we're pretty spoiled with all the high quality stuff out there.

I purchased the V collection end of last year, and have purchased too much in too short time this winter, so haven't really had time to evaluate everything properly. But so far I'm very happy with what I have tried. I was a bit hesitant because of the bad reviews, but no regrets. Biggest surprise was Spark, expected that to be a (virtual) dust collector but it has probably been my go to for drums since purchase.

I have an on-again, off-again relationship with Arturia.

I've been using their stuff for a few years (since the 2012 Hybrid Madness sales). I've gone the full gambit from doing a deep-dive (for me) learning the SEM, debugging some snarly issues with Arturia. . . including a lot of direct work with their support folks. That was resolved, but unfortunately for me - a little too late. I had to pull SEM out of some projects, as it was getting in the way of wrapping them up. The fix came.. and I started using it again. In the meantime - I really loved the Prophet, and Jupiter emulations. ( In the early 80's, I was in a cover band and spent a boatload of afternoons in the local music store, playing a Prophet-5. Never shook the want. So - the Arturia / soft-synth version was (is) a treat. ). Anyway - I sold my first V Collection, and moved on, a couple/three years ago. Then I picked up the Matrix-12 late last year. I still had my Jupiter, and SEM instruments. Recently, I upgraded to the latest V Collection (I wanted the Prophet, and my V Collection upgrade price ($69) was less than the cost of the Prophet, by itself). Spark has come a long way from the earlier V Collection version (the current version is full / not hobbled like the Spark that used to come with a V Collection.) The Matrix-12 is still a standout imo. As are the SEM and Prophets. There is some great sound you can get out of all the instruments in the collection - but it's a matter of purchasing / finding the patches, or devoting the time to learn - then ruin your eyesight trying to patch them

. All told though... there are only a handful of patches, that I use in the V Collection set. The rest, I just haven't spent the time to evolve for use, since I have other synths which fill the sonic space I needed these for.

Sorry for rambling. When it comes to Arturia, it's easy to be accused of piling on. In my case, I have been treated very well by their company, and get a lot of enjoyment out of some of their instruments. I'd love to see them dedicate resources to re-writing their interfaces...
