No intro sale?

How can one get coupons to use for Virta?
I think $89 is the intro price.

Post

What is the regular price then?

Post

I think 89 is the regular price, didn't see a mention of it being an intro price.

Lovely creation by madrona labs yet again!

Post

Intro-price but not announced?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

 Not showing up anywhere for me on Yosemite. Cubase, S1, GarageBand... Nada.

At the risk of asking the obvious, you did check under effects right? It's not an instrument.

As matter of fact, this topic should probably be under the effects part of kvr.

full price is $129 if i'm not mistaken. and there's a good chance I'm mistaken. could have sworn i seen it mentioned at some point, but cant find any trace now.

$89 is definitely the intro price, I read that Randy hasn't decided on the regular price yet.
Insta-buy for me regardless.

As beta tester, I can say that there are some problems with Cubase because of the audio midi settings are different to Ableton and other DAW's.
On Facebook he wrote about it: Unfortunately Cubase did not get a lot of attention in testing. Nobody seems to know a good way to use it. I may have to make an audio instrument version for Cubase compatibility.

Nope. I'm the dope  . Although the description is quite instrument-y. :hihi:

Thanks!

Is the audio analysis module working fine for everyone else? I can only get a signal through 'pre', which means I'm kinda stuck using it as a classic vocoder at the mo.

The other outputs on the audio module are always off with 2 'stuck' lights
Thanks plusch. Spotted someone else has asked about this in the Madrona forum since I posted the above so I've added my experience over there too.
Randy has replied over at the Madrona forum and said the symptoms match what would happen when the internal filter has 'blown up', and suspects this may be due to some last minute changes made before release affecting the Windows build. He'll be looking into it tomorrow.
That bug is a bit of a letdown... I was really looking forward to playing around with Virta, but only having access to the Pre output really limits what you can do with an audio input.

I did still play around with it, and it looks like a lot of fun. I understand the comments about being able to do similar things with other tools, but the Madrona plugins are little worlds unto themselves. They're actually kind of like meditations on minimalism- a very restrictive toolset which demands exploration and creative thinking. I mean, it would be a whole lot easier to just throw a bunch more oscillators and LFOs and filters at the problem, but this is all about creative constraints.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing around with a fully functional demo.
In case anyone was still put off, these issues were resolved with the Windows build earlier today.

Having loads of fun here. It takes a little while to get used to the right kind of compression/levels needed to get intelligible results, but my word the results really are special once you get there. Virta is quite unlike anything else I've used.

CPU hit is significant but manageable for me. I've found all of Madrona's stuff becomes more CPU efficient over time as the updates roll out though.

thanks for the heads up

Tried again the demo. Definitely a cool effect, but it is VERY cpu hungry and even with all its flexibility and modularity, overall it still often sounds like a resonator or a fat phaser on steroids. Didn't hear anything totally new that my effects can't do...

How does this compare to a digital vocoder (something like Melda's MVocoder) in terms of what's possible. At the moment I'm a little confused how this differs from a normal vocoder with two oscillators acting as carrier ?
