I like it a lot. Never got satisfied with Guru, mainly because it was all so fiddly. The new GUI is great and it fits my workflow a lot. Machine is also something I never go much into it. It looks good and the hardware is great but all this never was fitting my workflows. The machine controller can control Geist 2 but there a few hiccups to circumvent.
There are a few things that should be optimized in Geist 2, e.g. I would like to shift a few or all steps of a pattern forward or backwards more easily and against each other. All in all I think they're on the right track (sic!) with Geist 2.

Is there a way to change the note lengths without changing current note lengths? It changes the playback. I just want to have hi hats with 16th notes and snare with 8th notes..

yah you just enter it in using the grid.memyselfandus wrote:Is there a way to change the note lengths without changing current note lengths? It changes the playback. I just want to have hi hats with 16th notes and snare with 8th notes..

When I change the grid it doesn't visually change the grid. It changes how fast or slow it plays. I have to be doing this wrong.

Do you use this setting?memyselfandus wrote:When I change the grid it doesn't visually change the grid. It changes how fast or slow it plays. I have to be doing this wrong.
Because over here it is changing the grid itself. When you use the timing (called length), then the speed changes

Thank you but this seems wrong. Changing lengths should change the grid. But it changes the speed. If I use the step number it increases or decreases the loop length.. I want to have a standard bar length and have the high hats going with say 16th notes, bass drum going off of 8th notes and so on.exmatproton wrote:Do you use this setting?memyselfandus wrote:When I change the grid it doesn't visually change the grid. I would think the Length would change the grid size as far as the duration of the notes. Example. Grid length set to 16 paint in notes as 16th notes. Change grid lengths to 32nd notes and it shouldn't change the 16th notes.. It should only allow you to add 32nd notes and Keep the 16th notes. How else are we supposed to do this? Without shortening or extending the bar lengths? While keeping other note values.

Thanks. what a weird way to have to punch in notes..with strange limitations.

It's a step-sequencer mate. All of the steps relate to a common step-length. What you're after sounds like a piano roll with a higher PPQ than what Geist currently has.memyselfandus wrote:Thanks. what a weird way to have to punch in notes..with strange limitations.

This is what I'm talking about, Geist can do so many great things but can't do straight notes and triplets in the same engineere2learn wrote:For 16th triplets you'll want 24 steps for a bar,its not possible to have straight/triplets note on the same engine
