The MIDI Out Port cannot be accessed by Dexed and the DAW at the same time.

????
A VST is supposed to pass it's Midi output via the VST interface.
A DAW is supposed to provide means to route a VST's Midi output as the user requests to other VSTs, to a file (while recording) and/or to a (virtual) Midi output port the OS provides. Of course this includes the merging of Midi streams from multiple sites.

So I don't get the meaning of this post.

All of the VST hosts that I've used dropped the sysex data. That's why OP is asking for Dexed to route host midi data to the sysex midi output port. I don't have this problem since on OS X midi port can be opened by multiple program at the same time.

If I do this, it won't in the in coming release.

@eletro, if you want to prioritize bugs, open it on github... it is my main todo.

Thats exactly right. Do you see the sense in my toggle switch request? It would let us instantly switch between triggering Dexed's synth engine and triggering the DX7.

What version is that? I got the latest release 0.9.1 and everything's working fine.

Hello folks,

I am trying out Dexed with my hw controller. To get nice and smooth operator pitch sweeps (mostly to help me to understand FM synthesis), I tried to controll osc pitch coarse/fine knobs at once via single 14b MIDI CC sent from hw controller.

But it seems to me that Fine always goes from Coarse to 2*Coarse, which is why my idea works well only for Coarse = 0.5 and 1... I would expect it to go from Coarse to Coarse+1 instead for any initial Coarse value bigger than 1... That's also what I understood from DX7 manual.

I am not sure if this is a problem of my "DAW" (vsthostx86), but as I checked, all data seems to transmitted correctly. I can also reproduce this behavior using mouse only. Could that be a bug in Dexed? Or is it just me misunderstanding something?

(Edit - Dzzzt... Must admit I didn't checked ORIGINAL manual back then, just some 2nd source webs and articles. Based on Pascal's check with DX7 and my check with original DX7 manual from Yamaha's website where at p.27 they write that "Fine ... (Freq Coarse) x 1.0 ~ 1.99", that's how it is supposed to work. In RATIO mode, Fine always covers full octave above the Coarse harmonics, so what I wanted to achieve using 14bit CC is impossible. I removed technical info from my posts.)

can you try the new release https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed/releases ; I did somehting wrong with the previous DX parameters and now it could be fixed. But it might be something else and it does ring me some bells with the DX7 and it would be interesting to dig into the issue.

Am I right in saying that this was already possible in version 0.9.0 (b2) but you removed this option in later versions ?

Or should the file below load correctly in both because its a dx1 file?

New version (0.9.2) the original Yamaha cart, the first 3 brass patches are now sounding like muted organ sounds.In version 0.9.1 on my PC set up, the brass patches from the same cart sound a lot different. Anyone else notice the difference ?

I have this problem a long time and it's the reason I'm still on 090, you can "fix" this by changing the "engine" to modern and it will sound OK, but when you reload your project, the sound is back to the"wrong" one.

EDIT: I just tested the recall/reload problem with a fresh test file, and it seems to recall it correctly
