Best Service is now running a B1G1F sale on Tone 2: https://www.bestservice.de/tone2.html
Can a user buy Rayblaster and get another Tone 2 plug free, and still get Rayblaster 2 free when it is released?
Conditions stated at the page is that it "excluded are Tone2 Icarus, some up- and crossgrades, EDUs, gift vouchers and hardware."

So, Tone 2 is doing it again. After releasing Rayblaster, it barely saw any update, and now they are milking the cow with an update/upgrade to get extra cash from users. Exactly how they did with Saurus and Electra.thejonsolo wrote:Yes that is cool of them. I imagine it won't be revolutionary, but I like RayBlaster and hope the upgrade price is reasonable.

I really wondered why they don't include Icarus in that sale, when i read that. It's not exactly that it is very "new" by now, and still they want people to pay full price. That, and their half-hearted black friday sale, which lasted a whole day (!), and the high transfer fee or 25 €, making their plugins basically NFR, paints a picture in my head. Really, i'd love to like them and their plugins, but, they're not exactly making that very easy.Numanoid wrote:Best Service is now running a B1G1F sale on Tone 2: https://www.bestservice.de/tone2.html

Tone2 can be found on sale here and there, but I'd like a GForce sale.

Gladiator was the one that got some "real" updates. And Icarus also got one significant update already. But the others are basically abandoned after release, and when they decide to pick them to update - well, better add some cosmetic stuff, and charge for it. And sometimes, the changes are even for worse, like it happenewd with Saurus. I'm still at version 1, and I am glad with it - but the lack of support makes me fear that sooner or later I will be stuck somewhere. Anyway, I am not planning to update Rayblaster either. The preliminary information seems like an update that should be done for free (like it happens with many other vendors).Numanoid wrote:But not all their gear, Gladiator has been at v2.x for close to 8 years nowfmr wrote:So, Tone 2 is doing it again. Tone2 updates that were released this year or are work in progress are:
- Rayblaster 1.1
- Gladiator 2.5
- Warmverb Multi-FX 1.2.1
- Icarus 1.1
- Nemesis 1.2 Beta
- Rayblaster 2 (work in progress)
Besides that Icarrus was released that involved a LOT of work and time, not to forget that Markus is also heavily involved with sound design (both factotry presets and soundsets).
Bigger updates usually also include a bunch of additional presets and this will also be the case for Rayblaster 2.

As also mentioned there now in Rayblaster 2 there will be drag&drop modulation like in Icarus v1.1....enhanced sound quality, extended sonic range and a large number of new features...

Out of curiosity, doesn't "enhanced sound quality" contradict "backwards compatible"? Would existing projects still sound the same? Or is it generally accepted that if the sound quality is better, a certain loose interpretation of backwards compatibility is okay?
Or is it simply so that you get to run V1 and V2 next to each other but V2 loads presets of V1 and renders them with better quality?
Ingo, can you post audio examples of the same preset run in V1 and V2?
