Bazille - most misunderstood synth?

And let me make something perfectly clear. It absolutely stuns me that out of all my libraries, Bazille is my 8th best seller and Softube Modular is my 5th best seller. Now that is a synth I'd figure very few people would even get as not a lot of people are into modular synths as opposed to something like a Sylenth1, Spire or even a Hive or Diva. That totally stuns the hell out of me. And this is a synth without an internal browser that, on certain DAWs, won't even load 3rd party sounds.

If you don't mind me asking -- what's your number 1 selling library?

My number 1 selling library is no surprise. It's Serum by almost 2 to 1 over 2 through 5. Steve must be doing a great business over there. In fact, I wonder how many people DON'T have Serum?

I don't have Serum, but I do have many other synth plugins.

You can make whatever you like out of that. I'm gonna go with Serum being one of the most popular VSTs around.

I would think listeners 20 years old might better be used to compare
various filter/synth output, than 50/60 year olds with the attendant hearing loss.
(finding enough 20 year-olds for a test, who actually care, is another topic)

Hehehe, don't underestimate experience and focus. I recently identified a synth by artifacts not even our student (I think he's 23) could hear. Once I used an EQ they became audible to him. They were also in the spectrum - if you knew what to look out for.

I could be wrong in assuming most of the U-he team grew up
without Black Oak Arkansas posters in the bedroom, and have
taken some care of their hearing, as a professional regimen. Not that anyone
in their right mind would object to a U-he amp-sim suite in 2018/mid 2017.
I'd be surprised if it's not laid out in detail on your secret wipe-board,
with your existing effects already coded for easy integration.

Dark Zebra is the collaboration of a software developer, a sound designer/musician and a composer/storyteller.

It is not a collaboraton between 2 software developers. If u-He and Xils got together a lot of toes would be stepped on and noses put out of joint. In my opinion.

Have you had any thoughts on more advance envelopes in a future variant of Bazille? For me, two stage decay is an important aspect of many FM sounds that I don't find easy to replicate cleanly in Bazille.

Whoever needs two-stage decay regularly, I recommend permanently switching to "GearPorn" skin so you can see all envelope parameters in the one page. I switched and never looked back

I'm sure Sylenth1 is the most popular VSTs on the planet. I was simply comparing Bazille to Serum as far as popularity.

@wagtunes, the number libraries sold for Softube and Bazille do not surprise me as both of those are a tweakers software versions of heaven. I think both of those devices make you say you are thankful there's a way to save those beautiful patches.

Well, so, I know about the F/R range, but, point taken. It is easier to dial in with the F/R and range knobs side by side. As I said, I don't find it as clean as just setting the level and rate, however, I probably should have been more clear. It's not that it's impossible, just annoying to setup. I get that the fall/rise aspect makes it more flexible than only having a specific second decay stage.

At any rate, my question was really about more advanced envelopes in general. Multi segment, adjustable slope, etc?

Given the CZ nature of it, it would seem natural to have those type of envs, to a point (tho i did find them rather tedious to use on the actual hardware)
