All previous licenses being removed, including Hypersonic 2. Nothing to do with Windows version or 32 bit though. I'm on mac, 64 bit.wickfut wrote:Hypersonic2 licence being removed?aMUSEd wrote: That's not the issue. Read the thread.

We have to be fair - Steinberg, up to now, worked the exact same way. Heck, right now, I have Cubase 7.5, Cubase 8.5 and Cubase 9 ALL installed, and ALL running out of the same license. HALion 4 and HALion 5 also worked out of the same license. This was a first for Steinberg, and a complete surprise, at least to me.wagtunes wrote: Well, here's what I'm used to working with.
Take these two synths.
Syn'X and Syn'X 2
Poly KB II and Poly KB III
If you upgrade, yes, UPGRADE, from one to the other, guess what?
You get to keep BOTH and get to use BOTH.
Something went terribly wrong, and things got screwed - that's what I think.
And it's a pity that a launching that could have been glorious for Steinberg have been shadowed by such issues - first, the unexpected and unjustified (IMO) abandon of a still widespread-ed OS version. Second (and worse, IMO) this mess with the license. Not one but two shots in their feet. Quite an accomplishment.

No. I bought Cubase 8 upgraded to 8.5 and HALion 4 upgraded to 5 (both under a grace period). And the license only allowed C8.5 & H5, so I've just assumed that one has always superseded the other.wickfut wrote:Have any of you asked Steinberg for a refund and have your licences returned back to H5? Are they honouring refunds because of losing the licences?
I actually see the upgrade as a game changer for me. I'm more apt to beat my head against the other wall in writing Korg & Roland to update their drivers to include my post 2k hardware from them so I can update both OS to the current.
If stonewalled by them, (which is probably going to be their detrimental response), then I guess I'll end up replacing the Radias with something else non-Korg. And keep a watch out for something to replace my V-SynthGT in the way that I use it. And in the case of the VSGT, it is the last thing I feel that Roland did well. So Roland is eliminating themselves from my studio and Korg is reducing itself to a minimum too.
(BTW, U-he plugins have mostly replaced the Radias and about a third of the VSGT, but the VSGT has some specialties I haven't found anything to replace it with yet.)
Can't say I'm overjoyed by Steinberg's push into the future here, but I can't seem to find as much fault with them here either. Maybe because other companies have done similar things to their benefit and to our detriment in the last year or so, this almost seems minor.
However, the recent implementing of 'download managers' are forcing me to reconsider a few, which is why I sold my entire Toontrack account and stripping my NI account back to K9. As well as selling off all the Addictive Keys in my account.
I downloaded the 28 GB in the early morning, and I have to say, it was a nice experience compared to what I've become use to with those other company DMs.
I do feel like I'm at that place in a journey where it's time to pull out what isn't used and cut off those that take more time than they give me in the creative process.

If I upgrade the Absolute VST collection from 2->3, I assume it will add H6 as part of the license and not touch my H5 license. Anyone go through this process?

Also, i guess you missed it, but a user already reported that Halion 6 is working under Windows 7. Guess you missed also that i stated that Netmarketshare and Statista reported that Windows 10 is the most used OS now, and Windows 7 is going south, so i don't know why you talk about the "OS with the largest user base in existance".

Here are some first live-on-video- experiments, re-synthesizing/wavetabling some samples, experimenting with the different modes, WT spread, detuning, speed, formant modulation and so forth - for re-synthesis and wavetabling I do think HALion 6 is a game changer, the sound quality and possibility to combine waveforms from different samples in one wavetable just via drag&drop is highly intuitive and will result in an abundance of new, interesting sounds...

Just installed finally. Their locate missing content routine is broken. I load H6 and get a message saying it can't locate Aureus ventus.vstsound - I point it to the correct location but everything is greyed out (even their own content) - their routine doesn't recognise vstsounds!

Neither does their import/register vstsounds process - wtf! Did no one test this? Everything is greyed out, it doesn't recognise its own damn format.

OK tried another approach as a gamble - dragged the aureus_ventus.vstsound file directly onto the sound browser - 'do you want to register aureus ventus?" Yes!! So that works (although trying the same first with their purported new 'Content manager', which also did not see Aureus ventus, did nothing.

Here it just played in HALion 6 without doing anything, no errors messages, no missing blabla whatever.aMUSEd wrote:OK tried another approach as a gamble - dragged the aureus_ventus.vstsound file directly onto the sound browser - 'do you want to register aureus ventus?" Try moving it and see if it can find it?
