What I mean to say is I don't like having to uninstall what is already installed just to add one. That (in my opinion) opens up the possibility of running into issues putting them all back. Maybe I'm way off base here but I do remember having a frustrating problem with that a long time ago and having to get support to help me with it...

I remember problems when they first started with Waves Central, but I can't say I've seen any widespread problems since. I own about a dozen Waves plugins (on Windows) and never once have had to reinstall anything - Waves Central just does its thing and a new plug is downloaded and activated.

Waves has a huge user base. There's no way Waves Central would still be around if it was causing any major headaches. And it certainly wouldn't be a secret here.

as being a melda fanboy i would recommend you Mturbocomp it has all the capability to replicate various legendary comp and also has a preset named MPI 2500 (aka api 2500) sounds same like that and you can further design your own comp in the edit option.currently its prized at 233$ but wait for weekend sale they give 50% off sometimes 100$

Haven't found anything quite like it, I'd just buy it at during a sale. It's $42 today.
