Greetings,
My wife is a church organist, and I'm looking for a way to get her some sounds to generate from her Oxygen 8 keyboard. I got her that, and am pretty green about how to use it. I have some software lying around that I don't use (I use Cool Edit Pro for my musical pursuits), namely an old copy of Cakewalk and Reaper.
What do I need to get a simple system working for her? I need sounds, a program to play them, I guess, and to be able to use the small Oxy keyboard I have. Simple is great, cheep is great.
Thanks for your time!

There are tons of free vst instruments out there. What type of computer are you using?
There's a free church pipe organ here: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=622
and a nice donationware tonewheel organ (in a bundle) from GSi : http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=37
Both of those are 32 bit only.
There's these guys: http://www.timespace.com/product/CPO-12 ... ad%29.html

Nice, thanks @thecontrolcenter!
I'm still hooking up a computer, but it'll be a Windows 10 machine, desktop. Probably a small quad-core I think, I have a friend who does that. Me, I bang nails and play bass. Lol...
I will have to set it up with Cakewalk or something that that accommodates virtual instruments I guess, ez enough.
Thanks for the help man!

Just found this company:
http://www.virtualorgancompany.com/
She might like this one too:
http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=1004
That's another freebie. One if my favorites.

Ok, I'm doing a little homework as I go here.
I need a 64-bit program, and I'm really looking for a fairly simple tool, but that has a full complement of stops/sounds, as you'd find on a real-deal church organ. I'm starting to see that I may be barking up a tall tree in that! I just need "straight-line compatibility" between the app and whatever there is for a sound bank, and the computer of course- WDM or ASIO, as long as it all works together. We're working family folks, and need simplicity above all.
Mostly this is an arranging tool, not so much for actual rehearsal of pieces. We have an older (1-octave) Oxygen-8 keyboard MIDI controller, and will be using a home stereo system to monitor with, so it's to be very task-focused.
I'm checking out whatever is recommended...
Thanks again.

No problem. I think the only 64bit plug I linked was the Combo V ... not sure about virtualorgans.Rogerthebassplayer wrote:Just got your last post, will go see- thanks for the help man!

This one is a gem:
https://www.bestservice.com/organum_venezia.html
Most libraries I've played with are for Kontakt and require a Kontakt license. This one is self-contained and costs 89 EUR (and maybe there will be a black Friday sale to get the price down). I think you're likely to be very happy with it, so I do recommend checking it out.

I'd look at the free version of Hauptwerk first.
Doesn't need an additional purchase of a sample player (Kontakt). And Hauptwerk is the s€@t if you only want to play organ.
See if that satisfies to start with and build upon that. Even a few free expansions that work in the free version.
