You may well have listened to some lame sounds... not everything on the internet is great! Also, not sure what lame means to you. However, hearing a short snippet of a synth and playing it are two different things...

There are plenty of simple standard sounds (maybe lame?) that can come alive when you play them and tweak a knob or two. The Prophet 5 has some presence and magic in it. I'm loving RePro-5 because it captures that well. When I start playing it, it feels lively... like real electricity moving through circuits. Even simple sounds that at first glance might seem boring, become beautiful when played effectively.

If you are looking for a synth that has tons of features or lots of modulation, this just aint it. But what you do get is a players synth that oozes character.

Quick question, where do I find settings for mono/poly behaviour?

Post

Unison button. Otherwise, Tweaks page (for note priority).

It's so weird how mean and vile a place for talking about SYNTHESIZERS can get. Jeebus.

Hey folks,

Is there a way to set a default name for the Author field? I'm sick of typing my name every time I save a new patch! I seem to recall some way to do this for the other U-He synths, but I'm spacing it. I don't see anything in the Prefs page... ??

thanks!

I don't recall any U-he synth defaulting it, but I may just never have noticed. It'd be nice if it could just read the user name off the registration info and default to that. Wouldn't even need a preference for that. Just do it automatically.

I applied a fairly heavy saturated distortion (modulated by a flanger),
to a Repro 5 track, and was surprised how well the lows and mids reponded,
and how the highs seemed quite oblivious to it, exactly what was hoped for.
If that's just 'normal', I'll gladly keep feeling this lucky

I would not like that... the name I use for my presets is not my legal name that is on the registration.

Fair enough. I'd like a preference to set a default myself, but was thinking that'd be a way to do it automatically with little coding effort.

If i load the "init" preset and want to save the patch by default it uses my name that is included in the registration.
Of course this will not work with the demo as you do not have your name regstered there.
Personally i have no problem using my real name for my patches and i mostly do it anyway.

If the patch you currently loaded has you name saved with it the next time you save a patch it should contain your name too.

Preset author defaults to the last name you used when saving a patch, but you need to start from an init preset. If you start from a preset by another author, it defaults to that author's name.

(if it doesn't work that way... must be a bug... @Tas: check that out?)

Looks like the unison parameter is not available for automation which means that it can't be controlled with automap on a Novation controller.
