Is Bazille suited for Synthwave and any other good Synths or Synthwave?

And that using dozens of instances on a 10-year old computer :)

For sure... Bazille wouldn't be my first recommendation, but if someone already had Bazille and did not want to buy another synth, it can make any of the required sounds.

:D

What I would like to to my first post, is that as much as Synth1 is capable of delivering sounds suitable for Synthwave, and as much as Bazille is able to do it too, I wouldn't use either of those. The reason is - and this is entirely personal and some may scoff at this - I get inspired by visuals. An appropriate GUI design can put me in a specific mood, which I tap into and hopefully get some extra inspiration or creative stimulus, call it what you will.

So, for example if making Synthwave tracks, I'd want to get in the mood, and actually spend the time making sounds with a synth that teleports me into that Synthwave time&space...and so I would probably use something more skeuomorphic, more vintage looking. Something like Repro-1 and Repro-5, or Diva. Maybe Saurus. Lush-101, Tal U-No-Lx...anything that makes me feel like I'm sitting with some hardware in a nice studio....I know, it's silly, but maybe be it's one way of getting in the right mood.

Of course, the sound has to be there above all else, so it's not just about a fancy GUI. For this reason, I'd probably just get the Repro bundle and be done with it. Maybe add Waldrof PPG too. Get THE sound and the looks! :D

The usual “OnePingOnly” comment is still missing! :hihi:

Sorry, on topic. Any synth that has something or everything relating to classic substractives will do. And yes if your synth of choice already has lots of presets for your genre, go with it and don’t look back

Agreed. Especially that a lot of Synthwave sounds are made with a few basic parameters more suited to a 'hard-wired' synth, than one that needs 'cable' patching. Although, one could always start with a pre-patched template as a basic default sound from which to make all the standard 'synthwave' sounds.

@OP, I don't mean to spam, so apologies, but I thought that maybe these Zebra-made tracks can be relevant, just to show that even a complex modular, seemingly 'digital' sounding synth can do it too:

Hybrid 3 is often dirt cheap and also does such sounds easily.

Nice demos!

Another thing with Bazille... by default the Osc's don't have any slop/instability or detune and are set to re-trigger from the same phase. So yeah... a template preset configured already would be a good starting place.

A very valid and good point... never considerd this approach. ..

I just don’t understand topics like this. All you need is a synth with basic waveforms, a filter, envelopes, and an LFO. Done.

+1

It's silly. Literally ANY synth could be used to make synth wave, if you know how to actually program the synth.

I think the OP may benefit more from asking "which banks of synth presets will serve me best for making synthwave," as presets BANKS are certainly tailored to specific genres. But for that he could just search on Loopmasters, where there are numerous entries for synthwave in the Presets section....

Repro 1/5

Phonec 2

PolyKB II

OP-X PRO-II

Oddity2

Diva

Bazille

Any of those synths.

And if you put their out into Echomelt, you're perfectly entering into synthwave territory and you can make the soundtrack for season 3 of Stranger Things with ease :tu:
