Roland is so out of touch with reality on their software offerings.

OK, for those that care, I got official word from Roland tech support on this:Blackbelt Jones wrote:Question for Roland Cloud Juno / Jupiter users: is the mouse the only way to change presets? They don't respond to midi Bank/Program change messages from hardware, their preset "Inc / Dec" buttons don't have a Midi learn option, and the native Roland preset file format isn't recognized by my DAWs (Studio One 3 and MPC Software 2.0).
Mouse clicking the "Inc / Dec" buttons on the VST GUI seems to be the only way to change presets. Am I missing something?
"Yes, the mouse is the only way to change presets on the Juno-106 and Jupiter-8 plug-in."
So program/bank changes from hardware isn't possible, and you can't map the inc/dec buttons to midi.
Won't stop me from using them via the Boutique control mode, but it makes them less helpful than they could of been.

So Roland Cloud will present 3 new plugins at the upcoming NAMM :
TR-808
TR-909
SRX Orchestra ("the first of Roland's famed SRX Expansion Library to be made available as individual virtual instruments" to quote them)

Being roland I would expect some stupid design choice like lack of multiple outs in the 808*909 plugins.

Hmm... That looks like bad news to me - likely it will be a sampled "Anthology" plugin, and therefore doesn't look like Roland are making steps to include SRX support for the JV-1080 plugin, which would be preferable...sinemotor wrote:SRX Orchestra ("the first of Roland's famed SRX Expansion Library to be made available as individual virtual instruments" to quote them)
Edit: Hmm...

I was hoping for jd800...
But to release the srx cards as seperate products wouldnt it mean they will be just romplers? This would suck. They needa be addons to the synths....

From the picture above, it looks like a variant of the JV-1080 plugin (with the Edit button and all).Caine123 wrote:But to release the srx cards as seperate products wouldnt it mean they will be just romplers? This would suck. They needa be addons to the synths....
So maybe they are doing separate plugins for the SRX cards, rather than adding support to the 1080...

It's not an Anthology plugin. If you look at the Interface, you can see 4 tones switches, just like how it is in the JV.beely wrote:Hmm... Yes, it's a bummer. I was hoping that those expansions would be added to the JV but it's a bit naive. They've got what, 11 SRX expansions ? So releasing them individually means more "content" to their catalog so more $$$ in the long run. Like, if you want all those expansions, with their current system, you'll have to be subscribed for a decade...
I would buy a JV-1080 + SRX expansions bundle though.

I still hope that we get both options (having the expansion added to the main plug-in or used stand-alone).beely wrote: So maybe they are doing separate plugins for the SRX cards, rather than adding support to the 1080...
Not all SRX would justify an independent plug-in like the Orchestra, so, it would be silly to release them that way.

Also it would mean you couldn't use/make patches using waves from both the internal sources, and the expansion sources.fmr wrote:Not all SRX would justify an independent plug-in like the Orchestra, so, it would be silly to release them that way.
A cleverer way of doing this I guess would be if the 1080 could "see" the other installed SRX plugins, and show up their wave content in the plugin as well... best of both, more plugins and marketing content for the Cloud service, but the SRX's also available inside the 1080...

That's what I meant when I said that it maybe would be released in both options. I really expect them to do that, but if they don't I guess we'll have to put pressure on them to correct that.beely wrote: A cleverer way of doing this I guess would be if the 1080 could "see" the other installed SRX plugins, and show up their wave content in the plugin as well... best of both, more plugins and marketing content for the Cloud service, but the SRX's also available inside the 1080...

Well, I’m not sure if they do that, how it works with their ‘get one free after a year subscription ‘ thing.... maybe they are worried about too much content in one plugin....

The fact the SRX content would be visible in JV-1080 would not change the fact that it would be a different product (an expansion). So, if after one year someone would choose to abandon the subscrition and choose to keep JV-1080 they would not be able to use the expansion, because they would not own itchroma wrote:Well, I’m not sure if they do that, how it works with their ‘get one free after a year subscription ‘ thing.... maybe they are worried about too much content in one plugin....
