Hey everyone!

Looking to upgrade my current set up. Right now I’m using a
MBP 2012
2.7 i7
16 gen Ram
512 SSD with and extra 4tb HDD

it works pretty smooth for the most part. I use lots of guitar sims, drum programs like SSD 4 and VST/VSTI (UHE, omnisphere, kontakt, waves, IK, ETC)

All used with an Apollo twin MKII.

I’m thinking of getting an
iMac 27”
4.2 i7
32/64 gig ram
512 SSD
Same ext drive and Apollo.

What I’m wondering is, is this new setup going to take all of my troubles away and let me run upwards of say 10-20 guitar sims if needed with heavy plugin use and buses. Along with multiple instances of heavy VSTI and sample libraries?

I’d really like to just buy a system where I can throw whatever I want at it and now have to worry about any sort of overload whatsoever.

Thanks for any advice here everyone!

If you are keeping your old rig, consider Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 to leverage processing power on both machines.

The i7 processor is the way to go along with the healthy memory. I have quite a large Kontakt library and can make it fit in 32GB, but I have 64.

I also use Black Magic Design’s MulitDock for Thunderbolt connections to my external SSD’s.
