I think Waves have just done an update to WC (what a perfect acronym). I was trying to install on a brand new machine, but it won't install, I just get "an error has occurred" after 10 seconds. I've been through every troubleshooting step, the licenses are on a USB stick which it can see fine. I went down to just one product, it wouldn't install that either.

Support ticket sent.

This is getting beyond a joke now. I've supported Waves among many detractors, but when after 3 years their licensing system simply does not work, you gotta start rethinking things.

EDIT - as a note to self as much as anything, the current broken version is 1.3.6.3 - as and when the version changes it might be worth trying again.

EDIT 2 26/3/18 - Waves Central is now downloading 1.3.6.2, not 1.3.6.3 as stated on their Website. The presumption is that this is the previous last working version that they have reverted to while they fix 1.3.6.3. It looks like 1.3.6.2 is working for people, so hurrah.

I see I'm not the only one having this issue today.

I just went through all of the troubleshooting steps as well, and then emailed Waves tech support about this.

Makes my decision to never buy a Waves plugin seem like a pretty good one now. :hihi:

Oh that IS good to know, thanks Bill. What I said in my support ticket is PLEASE put the last version back and fix whatever they broke in this current build in their own time.

Just heard back from Waves. They directed me to download the offline installer. I looked for it before and couldn't find it, so maybe they don't publish the link anymore since they have Waves Central creating offline installers for users now.

Is it a shareable link, Bill? I too can't see anything public.

OK, I got the email from support too, there is a "temporary problem" with Waves Central.

Offline installers are here for Windows - http://cf-installers.waves.com/Offline/ ... st_Win.zip and here for Mac - http://cf-installers.waves.com/Offline/ ... st_Mac.zip

Then the following instructions:

Quit Central and your host application.
Download the offline installer.
Unzip the file to your desktop.
Launch Waves Central and click Install Products.
On the left column, choose Select Offline Installer.
When prompted, highlight the Waves folder on your desktop and click Select folder/Open.
On the middle column, select the products you wish to install.
Click on the Install button.

I went through this last year, the day i bought some new plugins. Was pulling my hair out, going around in circles.
Waves Central wouldn't allow me to activate my plugins without updating, if i tried to update, the WHOLE thing would download, then upon install would tell me there was an error.
Sent an email to support, the response was basically, we've changed the system and Mavericks isn't supported anymore.
NO indication on their website, no email sent out to warn users. Just a catch 22 circuit of frustration.
Sitting there with brand new serials I can't use.
I emailed back and demanded they refund my money.
I will NEVER give that company another cent.

on top of the continued WUP shite, and the new transfer policy and utter debasing of value through sales.
a real kick in the balls for anyone who previously paid a fortune but now wants out.

as far as i understand, WC is another protection scheme like Adobe's failure - they spend thousands of hours and millions of dollars to come up with more secure torture for their customers. Which is then thwarted by someone who discovers you can simply drag a single file over to a folder and viola - you now possess all of their software free of limitation.

f**king HATE these types of companies.
support devs who give you a serial number and be done with it.
there are better alternatives to ALL the Waves stuff anyway. in my opinion.

Wondering what did they actually change on each Waves Central updates? I have updated mine several times when prompted, because otherwise I can't use it, but I didn't notice anything different.

I mean, if the previous version worked fine, why do they need to update it? not to mention breaking it along the way.

They could have done a lot of things. Prepare it for launching new products, fix previously reported bugs, prepare it for streamlining future update and installation processes etc.

Actually they were quite clear that support for old versions of MacoOS will be ditched.

And how many times have you paid WUP?

Even though I'm not fan of such protection schemes, I think Waves is definitely one of the best. I have had some minor quirks with first versions but nothing game braking. Pre Native Access NI software central probably was the best as during all these years I never had a single issue with it. But overall WC is definitely among the best as far these things are concerned. And unlike most other devs, Waves fixes their issues in couple of days rather than weeks or months.
