Too bad, I have to pass myself because my rig is staying offline. A thread was started there about wanting(demanding) offline installers and one of the Dev's chimed in writing in essence "No Way" as it stands now and the future.

It's their way of controlling access so I you want it get on line otherwise your SOL.

Once it is downloaded and authorized as far as I can see there is no need to remain connected to the internet.

I have disabled the bandlab assistant in startup as it was rather intrusive and it still works ok. I have also taken it offline and it still works.

Possibly in the future it will need to be reconnected if it needs updating \ or anyone wants to update. Also, if someone wants to use Landr online rendering. But other than that it is pretty much splat as it was but minus a few bits.

I've got Sonar X3 on my studio computer but installed this version here just to see what's new.

Oh well it's been a long day, I'll give it a try tomorrow to see if I can knock it out of Demo Mode. Must be something I'm missing..... :drunk:
Thats puzzling ?

Mine didnt need authorizing. In the about in help it says "valid through 4\10\2018 and there is a generic licence number.

Did you already have an account with Cakewalk ?

And if so, did you use the same email address as in the old command centre ?

It also downloads the Cakewalk Studio Instruments installer.
Studio Instruments is 32-Bit.. right? I cannot recall if they upgraded it to 64 bit or not. Can someone confirm please.

I already have Sonar Platinum, but I signed into Bandlab to check it out anyway. Where do you download it on the website? :?

EDIT: I logged out, logged back in and now I see it. Downloading now.

So nobody knows what this "authorization DRM" does? If one can really download the software and use it indefinitely on any computer... then what is it "authorizing"?

Yeah I felt the same way. Spent an hour or two last night trying to change the GUI so I could see things on screen without a magnifying glass (I have a 2560×1440 23 inch display), finding some things are via right-click and other things buried in a menu or some drop down menu on screen. Then I wanted to find out how to manage projects in different folders.

In the end I was thinking "do I really want to spend a ton of time learning a new DAW, only to find that it doesn't do anything more than my current DAW (S1) does?"

The good news is that it has cured me (for now anyway) of thinking of switching DAWs.

Lmao!!!    :) :) :)

This is the funniest thing I've heard all day!!! Thank you for this post!!!!
How is it funny? I vastly prefer the Cakewalk GUI over Cubase's, but I would never criticize others for liking the latter, since I know it's a matter of taste. :?
Maybe your sense of humor is different than mine. That would be the logical conclusion. I never had a problem with Sonar's interface at all. I like Logic's GUI the best, but I'm a pc guy. Everybody has a right to their own opinion. To each his own.

Yes I already had an account with Cakewalk. I've owned a Sonar license since version five or so all the way up to Sonar X3. I used the same email address at Bandlab.

But that shouldn't matter since it's free for "everybody" ?

I'm logged into Bandlab Assistant yet:

Anyway it's really annoying that the Bandlab Assistant loads at startup. I'll have to fix that. If I can't knock it out of demo mode the whole thing is going to get deleted. I've tried everything I can think of....

All I did was to download the bandlab assistant, run it while logged in, and wait for it to download and auto install. There was no need to authorize.

Based on others experience on cakewalk forums it means you need to uninstall and re-install.

If you try to install from the exe in the download folder it won't authorize.

I then ran msconfig and disabled bandlab startup, which will probably turn out to be the wrong thing to do in the long term.

This DAW needs a re-scale GUI option like Ableton, FL Studio.
I use a TV as my main monitor with a 2nd standard monitor below it and have to lean forward to see the details in Sonar. I'm using 1920x1080 resolution, for those out there with far higher resolutions this must be torture. :hihi:

It works here. I just have the demo version of Hive, but it loads up ok.

Post

Should it be possible to use the cakewalk instruments (drumkit, bass, strings, electric piano) in other DAWs?
They are showing up in FL Studio but are not loading properly and acting weird.
I was wondering if this is because they are not supposed to be used in other DAWs or if they are generally a bit buggy?

That's exactly the way I did it.....still in demo mode here.

Uninstall yes.....reinstall....not too sure I'll bother with that. :?

EDIT: Even after uninstall this was left over. Still wants to load at startup. You'll have to manually delete it:
